Sex Limited Traits

Sex-limited traits are traits that are visible in only one sex, carried in autosomes rather than sex chromosomes, and can be transmitted by the opposite sex even though they are not displayed. Examples include lactation in mammals and beards in goats. Sex-limited traits can be traced using a pedigree, with males represented by squares and females by circles, and recessive traits shown as shades.

SEX-LIMITED

TRAITS
Sex-limited traits are traits that are visible only within one sex.
But these are NOT carried in the sex chromosomes (X and Y).
Instead, they are carried in the Autosomes or Body
Chromosomes.

The genes for the trait can be carried and transmitted by the
opposite sex although it is NOT displayed in that sex because
of anatomical or physiological differences.

Sex-Limited Traits can be traced by using a Pedigree.

Males are SQUARES Females are CIRCLES

Shades represent RECESSIVE traits.
Best examples of Sex-Limited Traits are:
Lactation in mammals and Beards on goats

Example, Beards are carried in both Female (XX) and Male (XY)
Chromosomes. But due to their Autosomes and Hormonal
Determiner (Activator), Beards are mostly prominent in Male
goats.
