than those who had failing grades. Skills, experience, method, attitude, determination,
mindset and knowledge about how the real world really works is what matters and not
good grades because not all times your academic knowledge applies to the real world.
In recent years we've actually been seeing a growing body of research that shows
that skills like resilience and conscientiousness can be just as important to your success
as your test score or even your IQ. Grades can’t show someone’s intellect whether it’s
understanding the concept or enabling themselves to grasp a subject. If you're willing to
dig deep, if you're willing to pick yourself up when you fall, if you're willing to work and
work until your weaknesses become your strengths. Then you'll develop a set of skills
that you can mold and apply to any situation you encounter. Any job you might have.
Any crisis you might confront.
Because life is a really long lesson, and you can’t define a person’s success by just
one section of it. What you learn in school will never be enough to lead a great life.
Whether you’re good or bad at school. Never blindly believe what you’ve been told
about “getting good grades is the only way to be successful” because sometimes you
have to think outside the box and try to discover your potentials and unleash your
talents, and that’s how you can start building your confidence and eventually lead a
successful life.
Based on my research most of the successful people like Elon Musk, Bill Gates,
Mark Zuckerberg, Take Jack Ma as an example a well-known Chinese businessman. He
failed twice in Primary School, thrice in Middle School and also failed his university
entrance exam thrice. He even applied to Harvard ten times and got rejected each time.
During and after his Bachelor’s degree Jack tried and failed to get a job at many places.
After spending three years to get into a university, he failed to land a job after applying
to them 30 times! And yet he is one of the richest businessman in the world with a net
worth of 38.6 billion dollars.
With Jack’s story we can see that success isn’t really determined by how bad or
good your grades are. It’s determined by your goal, how you assess yourself in a
situation, how persevered you are, and of course your personality because great grades
count for nothing if they aren’t partnered with broad ranging experience and a winning
personality.
