Note
The humidity content in the sampled gas is adapted to ambient humidity level in the Nafion section of
the tubing that connects AIONTM Multigas Analyzer with the DRYLINETM Receptacle. The multigas analyzer
then uses a fixed correction of 11 hPa (cmH2O) to compensate for the influence of water vapor in the gas
sample, when converting the gas readings to ATPD. Any other ambient H2O partial pressure will dilute the
gas sample to a different extent, causing a certain measurement error. Under typical operating conditions
however, this effect is not noticeable. An increase in the ambient H2O partial pressure to 30 hPa (cmH2O)
(i.e. 28OC, 80% RH or 33OC, and 60% RH) will cause a general error for all gases of only -2% REL.

E
EGM battery low Actuates when the charge in the built-in battery is too low to en-
sure proper performance of the electronic gas mixer and multigas
module.
Subsequently, the message "EGM battery shutdown" can appear
on the display; after about 20 seconds, the machine automatically
shuts down.
The alarm sound CANNOT be cancelled.

Gas module is in standby Opens in STBY or MAN status.
mode Actuates when the multigas module has not registered a fresh gas
flow and respiration rate for 10 minutes.
Accompanied by a single "beep."
IntelliSave AX700 123
APPENDIX A
Insp. AA% Low Actuates when the Insp. AA% measured by the multigas module
is lower than the "Insp. AA% Low" alarm threshold.
Normally not selected.
Accompanied by a single "beep."
Check the fresh gas flow settings and vaporizer settings. Check
the sample hose and water trap, and replace, if necessary. Consi-
der changing the vaporizer settings or alarm thresholds.
Consider changing the alarm threshold to "OFF."
Insp. CO2 High Opens in MAN and VENT status.
Actuates when the multigas module has registered respiration
and the measured concentration exceeds the set alarm threshold.
The alarm sound can be disabled for 120 seconds by pressing the
"Cancel Alarms" field.
Check the set fresh gas flow.
Check the absorber.
Check the patient status.
Consider changing the alarm threshold settings.
Insp. CO2 Low Opens in MAN or VENT status.
Normally not selected.
Actuates when the multigas module has registered respiration
and the measured concentration is lower than the set alarm
threshold.
The alarm sound can be disabled for 120 seconds by pressing the
"Cancel Alarms" field.
Check the set fresh gas flow.
Check the patient status.
Check the water trap.
Consider changing the alarm threshold settings.
Consider changing the alarm threshold to "OFF."
Insp. N2O% High Opens in MAN or VENT status.
Actuates when the multigas module has registered respiration
and the measured concentration exceeds the upper alarm thres-
hold.
NOTE! The alarm sound CANNOT be cancelled.

O
Occlusion Actuates when the multigas module cannot create a sample flow.
The alarm sound can be disabled for 120 seconds by pressing the
"Cancel Alarms" field.
Check whether the sample tube is occluded. (Change tube, if
necessary.)
Check the water trap. (Empty the water trap, if possible, or
replace.)
Press Exp. CO₂ to restart the sample pump (if the alarm has been
active for more than one minute).
If the message persists, contact your service department.
O2 pressure is low Actuates when the O₂ inlet pressure to the machine is lower than
2.5 hPa (cmH2O).
The alarm sound can be disabled for 120 seconds by pressing the
"Cancel Alarms" field.
Check whether the gas supply is connected to the machine.
Check the pressure on the gauges* on the front of the
machine.
Connect the reserve O₂ cylinder*.

P
PSV backup mode activated Opens in PSV mode.
Actuates if the patient has not activated an inspiratory trigger be-
fore the "PSV backup" period expires.

R
Resp. rate High Opens in MAN or VENT status.
Actuates when the multigas module has registered respiration
and the measured respiration rate exceeds the set alarm thres-
hold.
The alarm sound can be disabled for 120 seconds by pressing the
"Cancel Alarms" field.
Check the patient status.
Check the ventilator settings.
If use of mask ventilation during MAN status is causing the CO2
curve to be unstable, consider using the "CO2 alarms OFF"
function.
Check the sample tube and water trap and replace, if necessary.
Consider changing the alarm threshold settings.
Required Insp. pressure is Opens in PRVT mode.

sure greater than 67 hPa (cmH2O) is required to reach the set ti-
dal volume.
