Method Statement For Antitermite Trearment

This document provides a method statement for anti-termite treatment at a thermal power station extension project. It outlines the purpose, scope, standards, equipment, responsibilities, treatment process, risk assessment, and records required. The treatment involves applying chemical emulsion to soil around concrete structures using spray machines to form a barrier against termites. Responsibilities are divided among the contractor's site engineer, QA/QC engineer, and HSE engineer. Treatment dosage varies by location and structures must be dry when concrete is laid.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR ANTITERMITE TREATMENT

1. PURPOSE: To form a barrier against Termite by treating soil adjacent

to the concrete structure.

2. SCOPE:
Anti-termite Cover shall be carried out in places were back-filling is
_ done, covers foundations, Grade slab, plinth, Trenches.

3. REFERENCE STANDARDS/SPECIFICATIONS:
▪ Tender Specifications- and approved drawings
▪ Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
▪ IS : 6313 (Part- II) : Code of practice for Anti termite measures
in buildings.
▪ Manufacture's Materials Catalogue & MSDS
_ 4. EQUIPMENTS AND TOOLS REQUIRED:
a. Anti termite treatment's Spraying machine.
b. Graduated measuring jar.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES:
A) Contractor's Site Engineer

 Compliance with this method statement.

 Compliance with required dosage of emulsion as per specification.
 Taking all safety measures as per risk assessment plan.
 Coordination with related functions & agencies.
 Collecting Antitermite application details (as per approved format)
from the applicator and submitting original to EIC for review.
 Take corrective action for Non conformance raised during the EIC
inspection in conjunction with contractor's QA/QC Engineer.

 Keeping the record of batch nos. of emulsion arrived at site,

including the date manufacture and Expiry.
 Keeping record of material test certificates (MTC) per batch.
 Ensuring the proper dosage of emulsion applied as stated
specification clause.
 Take preventative action to avoid re-occurrence of non
conformance of similar nature by guiding site personnel.
C) Contractor's HSE Engineer:
 Provide necessary Personal Protective Equipment's (PPE) to the all
the labours and Tools box talk related to work.
 Ensure display of relevant safety signage, access & ingress route,
Edge protection Barrication and proper illuminations etc.
 Prepare Risk assessment plan for the activity by identifying risks
involved and recommend safe work methods to carry out the works
safely.
 Ensure that all works are carried out in a safe manner by
coordinating with site engineer, sub contractors and EIC.
 Providing information of accidents (if any) to EIC as per
contractor's approved project safety plan.

. 6 ANTITERMITE TREATMENT
 Only approved material and specialized agency shall be used to
carry out this activity. Specialized agency shall be approved or
recognized by Indian pest control association or any other
professional body.
 Concrete shall be laid when chemical emulsion has been absorbed
by the soil and surface is quite dry.
 Treatment should not be carried out when during the rain or when
soil is wet or have sub soil water.
 Upon disturbance of soil barrier, it should be immediately restored
with further re-compaction of soil and barrier treatment.
 10 years for defect free performance of anti termite treatment shall
be submit as per TJPS approved format / Contractor letter head.
 Dosage of chemical emulsion for various locations / structure are

as follows--
 provided on plinth wall if the field earth has been well rammed
and surface does not allow the imulsion to seep through, holes up
to 50mm to 75mm deep at 150mm centers both ways may be maid
with 12mm diameter mild steel rod on the surface yo facilitate
saturation of the soil with the chemical.
 Treatment at junction of wall and floor
Special care shall be taken to establish continuity of the vertical
chemical barrier on inner wall surface from ground level (where it had
stopped with the treatment described in IS-6313 part-2)up to level of
the filled earth surface. To achieve this, a small channel 30mm*30mm
shall be made at all the junction of wall & columns with the floor
(before laying the sub-grade) the rod holes made in the channel up to
the ground level 150 mm apart and the iron rod moved backward and
forward to break up the earth and chemical poured along the wall at
the rate of 7.51/m2 of vertical wall and column surface so as to soak
the soil right to the bottom. The soil should be tamped back into place
after the operation.
Treatment of soil along external perimeter of building
After the building is complete, the earth along the external perimeter
of the building should be rodded at intervals of 150 mm and to a depth
of 300mm. The rods should be moved backward and forward parallel
to the wall break up the earth and chemical poured along the wall at
the rate of 7.51/m2 of the vertical surface after the treatment, the earth
should be tamped back into place. Should the earth outside the
building, this treatment should be carried out on completion of such
grading.in the event filling being more than 300mm, the external
perimeter treatment shall be extend to the full depth of filling up to the
ground level so as to ensure continuity of the chemical barrier

Treatment of top surface of plinth filling

The top surface of the consolidated earth within plinth walls shall be

treated with chemical at the rate of 51/m2 of the surface before the
sand bed or sub-grade is laid. If the filled earth has been well rammed
and surface does not allow the emulsion to seep through, holes up to
50mm to 70mm deep at 150mm centres both ways may be made with
12mm diameter mild steel rod on the surface to facilitate saturation of
the soil with the chemical.
(In case of any confusion related to dosage of emulsion, Tender documents-

7. RISK ASSESSMENT PLAN-- Refer to Contractor's HSE plan,

formulated as per guideline issued in tender document “ Health and
safety Requirement” and Material Safety Data sheet (MSDS) from
manufacturer.
