LESSON PLAN

I – OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
a. recognize the brief history of Philippine arts in 70’s to contemporary;
b. interpret a contemporary art and its significance;
c. justify the importance of Philippine arts in 70’ s to contemporary.

II – SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: The brief history of Philippine Arts (70’s to Contemporary)
C. Reference/s: Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Region, pp.34-38
D. Materials: Pictures, Cartolina, Prints, Laptop, Printed Cartoon Character,
Origami stars, Laptop and Speaker.

III - PROCEDURE

 Ask the students about the following questions:
What did we learn yesterday?
Can you now give one kind of modern art styles?

3. Motivation
 The teacher will play video to the class.

4. Lesson Proper

ARTS – is the expression of ones feelings through creating something out of their
imagination.
The arts world has seen hundreds of different styles of artworks over the years and
many of these styles - grouped largely in the category of contemporary arts originated
in the past 60-70 years. We have seen a variety art movements emerge in each of
these past decades some of which made a big impact in just a few short years and
some of which are still popular to this day.

CONTEMPORARY ARTS – it reflects to its society and a wide range of cultural


influences on a country’s culture and how these influences honed the country’s art.
 Refers to art made and produced by artist living today

- Provides an opportunity to reflect on now a day society and the issues relevant
to ourselves and the world around us.
- Reflects to current issues or current events
- Breaks the rules of the traditional arts

Thus the term contemporary art idea the artistic innovation and originality of an artist.

When does art started in Philippines?

- There is no exact date how exactly art forms were produced in Philippines but
remember even our great great ancestor expresses themselves through drawing,
that where found inside caves, their houses within bushes, the tradition of rituals
and the way they live.
- But during Marcos regime IMELDA had a vision to make the Philippines a center
of fashion, art and culture.
- On September 21, 1972, while Philippines under martial law, Marcos
envisioned a new society or so called BAGONG LIPUNAN
- The vision was propagated and implemented through infrastructure projects such
as CCP ( Culture Center of the Philippines)
- Created on 25 June, 1966 through executive order 30 and inaugurated in 1969,
three month celebration.
- It is to recognize and provide artists venues and grants.
- As Miss Universe was held there in 1974
- NAC (National arts Center)

a. Activity 2 phase (Closed book)

 The class will be divided into 4 groups. (First Phase) A puzzle pieces will
be disseminated into the groups and mend it into a whole sculpture
model. The second phase will be the interpreting phase. The mend model
will be interpreted through associating their interpretations into any song
that relates to the model and the other two will dramatize their
SONG PRESENTATION interpretation of
the Relevance 15 pts. model.

Cooperation 5 pts.

b. Analysis:
 Ask the students about the following questions:

How did you find our activity? Is it hard or easy?


What did you do to come up with that amazing concept?
What are the ways did you consider towards interpreting an art?
c. Abstraction:
 Ask the students about the following questions:

In what medium you can express your feeling out of your own
imagination?
What do you call those beauty of expressions in creating something
imaginative?
In the Philippines, who implemented a culture program to recognize
many contemporary artists? In what way?
What do you think may happen if our artists were not given the
chance to express themselves in a form of art?
d. Application:
Think to make it.
The teacher will randomly select a student to interpret random arts
from Filipino artist in 70’s to contemporary.

1. As contemporary student, how can you promote an art from old
times to present time?
V. Assignment

 Study in advance the Philippine arts history of Social Realism.
