MEC330:PRIMARY MANUFACTURING LABORATORY

Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

CO1 :: Examine the various basic machine tool operations to accomplish desired geometry.

CO2 :: categorize and recognize appropriate manufacturing process to accomplish given job.

CO3 :: chart the various sand testing methods to yield the production rate.

CO4 :: prepare sound knowledge on MIG and TIG welding

List of Practicals / Experiments:

Foundry shop
• To make a mould using split pattern and casting with aluminium

• To perform the different sand testing processes on green sand mould

Pattern-making shop
• To make a two piece pattern of hard wood on lathe machine

• To make a pattern using carpentry tools.

Sheet metal-forming shop


• To make a bottle hanging stand using different sheet metal operations.

• To make a washer using sheet metal processes and calculate the blanking force.

Welding shop
• To make a corner joint of MS angle using MIG welding

• To make a right angled pipe joint using TIG welding
