Hazard analysis in the workplace involves examining worksites to identify existing hazards and conditions that could lead to hazards. It includes job hazard analysis which focuses on job tasks to identify hazards before they occur. There are 4 basic steps to conducting a task hazard analysis: 1) selecting the task, 2) breaking it into steps, 3) identifying potential hazards, and 4) determining preventive measures. Common methods to identify workplace hazards include observation, surveys, interviews, inspections, and documentation review. Common hazards include fire, explosions, toxins, injuries from sharp edges or falling objects, and ergonomic or psychological stressors.

WHY SAFETY IS IMPORTANT? HOW WILL YOU APPLY THE SAFETY PRACTICES IF YOU ARE
WORKING IN A MINING COMPANY?

A safe and healthy workplace may lower injury and illness costs, reduce absenteeism and turnover,
promote productivity and quality. To put it another way, the organization benefits from safety. Furthermore,
protecting workers is the right thing to do. Working in the mining industry is a dangerous occupation. The
first step in staying safe is to recognize that working in the mining industry is dangerous. Accept that the
mining sector is fundamentally dangerous, and remain extra cautious on the job. Always keep an eye out
for your coworkers and never let your guard down. Accidents with severe consequences can happen in
the blink of an eye. All team members should receive regular safety training and wear safety equipment at
all times. The more you execute the safety practices the lesser chance of accident you will have.
