OBJECTIVE

OBJECTIVE

The main Objective of this Document is to enable us to know the concepts and
knowledge of Micom Relays MCL configuration using S1 Agile software.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

1. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
 A Laptop with windows OS with minimum 10GB of free space.
 MiCOM S1 Agile Setup Software Latest version.
 Installed Proper Data Model for micom relay corresponding Model number.
 Serial cable for Front Port and RJ45 for Rear Port for communicating Micom
relays.

 Stable AC/DC Supply with proper earthing should be verified to avoid errors or
malfunction during communication.
 Verify the approved schemes in order to configure Micom relay.

DO’S

2. DO’S
 IP Address must be verified with the respective Relays.
 Communication Port Number to be verified and should be same in both micom
relay Setup as well in Laptop.
 All Configurations to work offline and the backup must to be maintained in
order to avoid conflicts.
 After Communicating, the first step is to download 3 types of files (.mcl, .psl,
.setting) from relays and save it to Laptop or DR PC’s.
 If use Lan Port to send MCL file, please switch configuration.

3. DONT’S
 Do not remove the physical medium (i.e. Cable) while uploading or downloading
the files.
 Do not send MCL file without validation.

 Double click the “MICOM S1 Agile Setup” Software for Installing or Right Click
the setup and select run as administrator.

 Install wizard will open and Click “Next”

 InstallShield wizard will open and Click “Next”

 Accept License Agreement, Click Next

 Enter Customer Information(eg.Microsoft)

 Installation Paths will be automatically stored in C Drive, and it is possible to


change the drive by select Change Option

Don’t change the name for the folder. Leave the default “MiCOM S1 Agile”.

 Install Wizard Click Next.

 Shortcut is created on desktop Micom S1 Agile. Then Click “Next”

 Click YES to restart computer. Then Click “FINISH”

 Go to Control panelProgramsUninstall a programMicom S1 Agile.

 After Successful Removal process. Reboot the Laptop or PC, which is to remove
the Files from registry.

 Open the Micom S1 Agile Setup by double clicking the icon after installing.

 Accept the terms and condition and click “OK”.

 Click on Quick Connect

 After click quick connect then One Popup is open create new file or open exiting
file.

 Create new file, Enter Name of the site and choose Path file where you want to
save.

 In this POPUP we can choose 40 series relay want to communicate.

6.1Front Port Communication

 In Front Port communication we need 9 Pin Serial Male to female serial cable
and then serial to USB converter.
 Select “Front Port” to communicate.

 Keep the following parameters and verify once before online


1. Relay Address  1
2. Com Port  Com Number(Check in Device Manager in your laptop)

 Then Select “Finish”, it will take 2 minutes.

6.2 Ethernet Port Communication


 In Ethernet Port communication, we need RJ45 cable.
 Select “Ethernet Port” to communicate.

 Set same IP and relay address in the relay for communicate.

7.1 Create New MCL
 Open IEC 61850 cfg file in following path Drive CProgram file(x86)Alstom
gridMiCom S1 AgileIED configuratorIEC61850_IED_Configurator
 Right clickOpen file or Double click on it.

 After open IED configuration goto tool bar in fileCreate a new file(.MCL)

 For creating a new mcl file, enter particular Relay Model number and Click

 In IED Details enter the Device Name(eg.B20121M1)

 In communication, part enters IP address (10.22.91.10) and sub net mask


(255.255.255.0).
 Select Medium want to communicate choose fiber means its communicate
through Patch card only

 In SNTP used for Time synchronization purpose, enter the GPS IP address in
External server1 (eg.10.22.91.100).

 Enter the Auxiliary BCU IP address in External server 2(eg.10.22.91.2)

 Open Goose Publishing tree choose gcb01 click on it.
 In Dataset references Select goose publishing dataset.

 Goose Identifier is G3001 and then it converts into hexadecimal value (BB9)
same as put Goose APP id (BB9).

 In Tool barselect Tool option Export configuration to SCL.

 Export file save as per need save ICD, CID & IID file.
