Electric Circuit Analysis (EE - 116) : DE-43 Mechatronics Syndicate

The document summarizes an experiment on using resistors in an electric circuit. The objectives are to understand how resistors are used and connected in a circuit and how to find voltages and currents. The procedure connects resistors in series on a breadboard with a 5V power supply. Voltages across each resistor and current through the circuit are measured with a multimeter. Measurements show a voltage drop across each resistor and the resistances are calculated using Ohm's law. The conclusion is that the lab teaches how to connect resistors in series or parallel and measure voltage and current in a circuit.

EXPERIMENT TITLE: Using the Resistors in Circuit

OBJECTIVES: To Understand how the Resistors are used in a circuit and how they are
connected and how we will find the voltages and current in the Circuit.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENT:
• DC Power Supply • Lead Wires
• Digital Multimeter (DMM) • Bread Board
• Resistors

PROCEDURE:
• First getting the required equipment and checking their work condition. For the
checking of them we use continuity and check wires with DMM by connecting the terminals
with it and if the beep sound come, they are fine and if not, we have to change them.
• We turn on the Power Supply (and also the output one if it is in your power supply). And
we connect both wires to the fixed voltage of 5V And current of 3A.
• Then we connect other terminal of wires with DMM to check if the voltage of 5V is in the
wire. For this we set our DMM to Volt meter to check the voltage.
• Now we check Master and Slave Knobs to keep them independent we unpush the both
buttons and for series only left one needs to be pushed and for parallel both need to be
pushed.
• But for circuit we are using fixed 5V. First we connect our resistors in bread board and
make it in series. We also make a ground in a circuit on the negative side.
• Then we use Power Supply And provide 5V of fixed voltage to our circuit by conecting the
wires.
• Now to find the voltage flow in the circuit on each terminal of resistor we use DMM by
setting it on VM and connect the wires of DMM to the terminal of resistor. By doing this we
get the Voltage V1 and V2 on both of the resistors.
• As they are in series the current is same across the circuit. So to find it we make a bit of
adjustment in our DMM by changing the VM to AM and connecting the wire of it to other
current one.
• By doing this we find the current and we can find the resistance by OHM's Law or in the
start with DMM by connecting the wires of it to resistors.
• We also find the Eq R and V and I of the given circuit to us.

SCHEMATICS:

MEASUREMENTS AND CALCULATIONS:

V1=2.52v V2=2.43v I=3.54A R1 =0.692 R2=0.686

CONCLUSION:
In this Lab we get to know about the resistors and how to connect them
in the circuit and how we make a series or a parallel connection. And how we can measure
the voltage and current flowing in the circuit.
