A. Torque Check of the QAD Adapter Tension-Bolt
WARNING: USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE.
EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY.
LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE
DAMAGE.
(1) Cut and discard the lockwire from the tension bolt (1).
(2) Apply the Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material Ref.
12ABE2) on the QAD adapter ring (2) with the SPRAY - BOTTLE, or the BRUSH - BRISTLED or
the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material Ref. 14SBA1):
(a) Apply it on the mating surface between the QAD adapter and the QAD ring (in the zone
where you can get access).
(3) Lubricate the tension bolt (1) with the engine lubricating oil (Material Ref. OMat 1011).
(4) Do a check of the torque value of the tension bolt (1) as follows:
(a) TORQUE the tension bolt (1) to between 20 and 22 lbf.ft (2.71 and 2.98 m.daN).
(b) Tap the edge of the QAD adapter ring (2) with the DRIFT - BRASS and the HAMMER -
NON METALLIC to make sure that the torque value is correct.
(c) Measure the torque value of the tension bolt (1).
(d) Do steps (4)(a) thru (4)(c) again until the torque value of the tension bolt (1) is to between
20 and 22 lbf.ft (2.71 and 2.98 m.daN).
(e) If necessary, do steps (4)(a) thru (4)(c) again and again to get the stable torque value for
the tension bolt (1).
(f) If the torque value is not correct after you do steps (4)(a) thru (4)(c) for a maximum of 12
times:
1 Loosen the tension bolt (1).
2 Do a check for wear or damage of the QAD adapter ring (2) or the IDG input flange
Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-220-802.
3 Lubricate these components with the engine lubricating oil (Material Ref. OMat 1011
):
- The threads of the QAD adapter ring (2)
- The inner surfaces of the QAD ring
- The tension bolt (1).
4 Do steps (4)(a) thru (4)(f) again.
(5) Measure the distance between the ring lug and the bracket along the tension bolt (1) as follows:
(a) If the distance between the ring lug and the bracket along the tension bolt (1) is less than
14.3 mm (0.56 in.), replace the QAD adapter ring (2) Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-804
and Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-804.
(b) If the distance between the ring lug and the bracket along the tension bolt (1) is more than
76.2 mm (3 in.), loosen the tension bolt (1) and do the steps that follow:
1 Lubricate these components with the engine lubricating oil (Material Ref. OMat 1011
):
- The threads of the QAD adapter ring (2)
- The inner surfaces of the QAD ring
- The tension bolt (1).
2 Do steps (3) and (4) again.
3 If the distance between the ring lug and the bracket along the tension bolt (1) is
more than 76.2 mm (3 in.):
- Replace the QAD adapter ring (2) Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-000-804 and
Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-41-400-804.
(6) Safety the tension bolt (1) with the lockwire (Material Ref. OMat 238) Ref. AMM TASK 70-12-04-
910-804.
5. Close-up
SUBTASK 24-21-00-865-133-A
A. Remove the SAFETY CLIP - CIRCUIT BREAKER and the tag(s) and close this (these) circuit breaker
(s):
SUBTASK 24-21-00-410-102-A
B. Close Access
(1) Close the protective door of the AC/DC emergency power center 740VU.
(2) Close the access door 811.
(3) Close the fan cowl doors: Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-805
(a) FOR 4030EM1 (POWERPLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
