Triangle Congruence PostulateS Lesson Plan
OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of axiomatic structure of geometry and triangle congruence.
B. Performance Standard The learner is (1) able to formulate an organized plan to handle real life situation. (2) able to communicate mathematical thinking with coherence and clarity in
formulating, investigating, analyzing and solving real – life problems involving congruent triangles using appropriate and accurate representations.
II. LEARNING The learner will be able to:
COMPETENCIES a. identify included side and included angle;
b. illustrate the Side-Angle-Side (SAS), Angle-Side-Angle (ASA), and Side-Side-Side (SSS) congruence postulates; and

IV. PROCEDURE Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. PRE - ACTIVITY
1. Prayer Before we start with our lesson this morning, everybody is requested to
stand for a prayer to be led by____________. Everyone in praying.
Very good! Two triangles are congruent if the corresponding sides and angles are congruent.
When can we say that two triangles are congruent?
Excellent! Or the what we call CPCTC. 3. Vertices, angles, and sides.
How many corresponding parts do congruent triangles have? What are they?
Before we proceed to our new lesson, let’s first have an activity.
Are you ready? Yes ma’am!
4. Motivation
PICTURE ANALYSIS
Very good!
Our topic for this day is all about triangle congruence using the SAS (Side-
Angle-Side), ASA (Angle-Side-Angle), and SSS (Side-Side-Side)
postulates.
In connection with this, you are expected to:
a. identify included side and included angle;
b. illustrate the Side-Angle-Side (SAS), Angle-Side-Angle
(ASA), and Side-Side-Side (SSS) congruence
postulates; and
c. apply triangle congruence in real life situation.
B. ACTIVITY To better understand our lesson, I want you to group yourselves into two
groups.
Group 1.
3.
2.
1.
Y
< M is an included angle between MY and MA.
< A is an included angle between AM and AY.
< Y is an included angle between YM and YA.
MA is an included side between < M and < A.
AY is an included side between < A and < Y.
MY is an included side between < M and < Y.
Triangle Congruence Postulates
SAS (Side-Angle-Side) Congruence Postulate
1. PQ ≌ WX
2. <Q ≌ <X
3. QS ≌ XY
Example, we have triangles PQS and WXY. Anyone from the group who
can give me its corresponding parts to know that these two triangles are
congruent using the SAS postulate.
Very good! Now we can say that the two triangles are congruent.
Next.
ASA (Angle-Side-Angle) Congruence Postulate
1. <B ≌ <E
2. BC ≌ EF
3. <C ≌ <F
If <K ≌ <X, KJ ≌ XZ, <J ≌ <Z; then KJL ≌ XZY by ASA Postulate.
For example, given the triangle ABC and DEF, who can give me the
corresponding parts of the triangles in order to prove that they are
congruent, using the ASA Postulate?
Excellent!
Therefore, triangle ABC and DEF is congruent. No ma’am.
1. SSS Postulate
2. SAS Postulate
3. ASA Postulate
4. SAS Postulate
5. ASA Postulate
G. ASSIGNMENT Corresponding congruent parts are marked. Indicate the additional
corresponding parts to make the triangles congruent by using the specified
congruence postulates.
a. ASA <C ≌ <F
b. SAS BA ≌ ED
a. SAS JL ≌ MK
b. ASA <L ≌ <K
