INSTRUCTIONS: the total of point is 100 (equivalent to 30% of the course)


1. Purpose:
 Apply theoretical knowledge to investigate the basic operations of combinational and
sequential digital logic circuits (G1.1)
 An ability to operate laboratory equipment (G1.2)
 Design and troubleshoot a simple combinational logic circuit (G3.1)
 Design and troubleshoot a simple sequential logic circuit (G3.2)
 Examine the real case problems to learn about the professional and ethical responsibilities
of engineer (G5.1)

Activities
 Project Presentation – No presentation for this project
 Project Submission – Each team must submit a final project report (softcopy for online
submission on Blackboard). The soft copy of report file must be in PDF format and stored
in a zip file with the simulation files with the name as:
DLDL_Name1st_Name2nd_Name3rd_Project.zip

Team
Each team contains a maximum of THREE members. Members should be the same as the
previous Lab sections.

Grading
 This project accounts for 30% of the total grade of this course.
 The report must have Turnitin similarity less than 30%, otherwise, plagiarism is considered.
and the penalty of mark deduction reaches up to 50%.
 All the team members must attend in the Final Lab (Lab session 8)

QUESTIONS
Choose one of two topics below:
 Topic A: Design a Digital Clock
 Topic B: Design a Traffic Light

The explaining of topics is in the file “Explaining Topics.pdf”. You should read carefully and follow
the requirements.

 The report must have a review about the topic including some fundamentals, theories, …
 The project must be conducted in simulation software and must run without errors.
 The design must be explained in details including block diagram, truth table, transition
stage,…
 In the report, student must capture the screen of design in simulation software and some
representative cases.

Format of Project Report


Students need to follow the report format as suggestion. Some main parts should include in
your report as follows:
 Introduction (Problem statement, Motivation)
 Approach/ Background (you should clearly explain information including some
mathematic formula, block diagram, designs…)
 Results and Discussion (trying different cases and gives some comments)
 Conclusion
 Task Assignment (A part listing tasks performed in the project by each team
member of individual tasks).
 Reference
