Scrambling is climbing upwards

on a mountain using your hands
for balancing.
Thank you, Mr. Catayong.

It is said that climbing on a steep

terrain, when we say “steep” it is a
part of a particular place like in
mountain that has a sharp or a high
elevation. Then we use our hands
just to balance ourselves climbing.

(Rock climbing involves climbing
rock faces or boulders. Rock
climbing requires you to pull
yourself up with your arms.)

Sir, it is climbing on a part of a

mountain that has big boulders of
rocks or like a rock wall and we
are using our hands to pull
ourselves up.
Very Good Ms. Mamangun!
It is like Scrambling right?
Yes sir!
The difference between the two is
the terrain or the part of the
mountain that we are climbing and
the use of our hands.

Let’s move on to the third one.

I don’t know much about it Sir,

but I think mountaineers are
traveling in the snow.
Very Good example Mr. Caloza,
from the word travel means we are
moving from one place to another
and when we say glaciers it can be
a mountain of snow, a lake or part
of the ocean that is formed into ice.
And we are traveling through that
with ropes that tied to one another.
The main purpose of that is to
make sure that no one was left
behind when we are travelling
through glaciers.
Got it? Sir, yes, Sir!

Very Good!
And for the last skill you should
know, please read, and explain Mr.

ice climbing or mixed climbing

of ice climbing and rock climbing
generally using ice climbing
equipment such as crampons and
ice tools.)

From what I have read Sir, it is

like rock climbing but with ice
and we are using ice tools.
Very Good Mr. Masangcay!
From the picture, what tools do
you see that they are using when
climbing through ice?

It is also a lifestyle sport

there are clear paths to follow.

destinations). It is usually shorter
than trekking.

Trekking
This outdoor activity is a longer
journey on foot compared to
hiking.
Usually, undeveloped places are
explored in trekking where
there is a close-up view of the
wonders of nature.

Camping
- is an enjoyable outdoor
activity that allows you
to experience simple
adventures outside your
homes. It allows a lot of
movement since it involves
activities like carrying backpacks,
hiking, and most of all pitching
tents.

Orienteering
it is an outdoor activity that
requires you to follow a specific
sequence of pre-set course with
the help of
navigating devices, specifically
maps and compass to go through
an unfamiliar terrain. Aside from
physical, this activity requires
mental toughness to be able to
reach the expected destination.

The sport of mountaineering

aims at reaching the highest
point of mountains (peak),
minor and major climb.

Minor Climb is any climb that

can be accomplished within a

single day without extraordinary
physical effort, taking five hours
