Homeroom Guidance

Quarter 2 – Module 11:

Weighing Options, Seeking
Opinions

NAME: CELINE B. BRAGADO

SECTION: 9-MEYER
Let’s Try This!

he/she
considers how
others would
feel

he/she
no one is deciding for
respects and
excluded for the
values the
the sake of common
opinion of
others. good
others.

Everything
being done is
for the benefit
or everyone.

Processing Questions:

1. What did you use as basis of your answers?

I based it on how I interpreted the definition of doing something for the common good.

2. Do your answers resonate with you when making decisions? How?

Yes, because I have always hated how sometimes someone needs to adjust just for the other
person. I like scenarios where everyone is not compromising but is still able to function the
same way.

3. How do you know that you are deciding for the common good?

I know that I’m deciding for the common good if I am not putting anyone at a disadvantage and
doing actions that will benefit everyone.

Let’s Explore This

Discussion Guide:
1. What are your options? List them down.

The most obvious option is to save the pregnant teenager because they are
saving the life of two human beings.
2. What are your alternative solutions? Does everybody agree with the
alternative solutions?

The alternative is to not continue with the operation at all. Yes, everybody agrees
with the alternative.

3. What are the consequences of your alternative solutions?

The people in need of a transplant would not be saved and probably die.

4. Write your decision as a group on a sheet of paper.

The final decision is to save the pregnant woman.

Processing Questions:

1. Did you have difficulty in coming up with a decision?

Yes, because everyone is just as deserving of a transplant as the next person.

2. Did you have alternative options? What are these?

Yes, we came up with the alternative option of not performing the transplant on anyone,
which technically makes it "fair" but also "unfair" because everybody deserves the right
to live.
3. Did your household members have different options? How did you deal
with it?

I reevaluated my choice and heard their opinions about why they picked that certain
patient. With consideration to their belief, I reinstated my previous choice to that of
something that everyone would agree on. We ended up choosing the pregnant lady and
the alternative is no one.

4. Does it help to analyze your alternatives and the consequences of

your decisions?

Yes, because it gives me the justification for the decisions I’m about to make.

You Can Do It!

Problem:
To choose which high school I would go to.

Decision:
I choose to study at Valmasci.
1. Did you get the rightful results?

Yes, because I had a great school to learn in. I made a lot of friends and I learned and
will continue to learn a lot.

2. What were the consequences when you made that decision?

I had to learn how to commute because Valmasci is far from my home. I took a chance
that I would be able to survive in the school, despite the fact that it was known for its
strict and difficult level of study.

3. Did it contribute to your personal growth in any areas of life (social

relationship, academic performance, career pathing, health, spiritual, etc.)

Since I started studying at Valmasci, my academic performance has been increasing

day by day, and Valmasci also helped me be exposed to different sorts of people, which
allowed me to become more socially active.

4. Did it consider the common good?

I believe that the decision I made was not for the common good since I insisted on
studying in Valmasci rather than Valnat, which would have been more convenient for
me and my parents.

5. How would that make you as a person?

That would sadly make me a selfish person, but I believe that I had to take that chance
because I genuinely wanted to go to Valmasci, and the results far exceed the decision.

What I Have Learned

1. What will be your alternative solutions?

To give the money to my parents.

2. What will be its positive and negative consequences?

Positive consequences: My parents would thank me for giving it back and might
consider even giving me the money. Negative consequences: My parents would take
the money and think I tried to stole it.

3. How do you consider honesty despite your current situation?

I consider honesty as the top priority because honesty results to long-term trust and
reliability of a person.
