Course Description:
The course provides students with a comprehensive discussion of the theory and practice of psychological testing as applied in the
counseling profession. The graduate students will critically examine the psychometric properties and will have hands-on training in the
administration, scoring, and interpretation of basic and advanced-level psychological tests used in measuring intelligence, aptitude,
achievement, interest, and personality. The graduate students are expected to acquire both conceptual and practical competence in the
conduct of psychological testing for counseling
Course Outcomes
Upon satisfactory completion of this course, masteral graduate students will have content-specific knowledge to:
1. Gain deeper understanding of the principles, issues and ethical standards of psychological testing
2. Be familiarized with the different types of psychological tests and its application and usage in the different areas of counseling
in the Philippine setting
3. Apply the principles of psychological measurement to evaluate existing psychological tests, construct test items and
administer assessment tests and write a psychological report
