A very warm welcome to all participants in the Junior Chamber International Hong
Kong 2018 Inauguration Ceremony!

The JCI Hong Kong National Board of Directors’ theme this year is ‘Beyond
BeLive’. The intention is to encourage everyone to be true to themselves and grasp
opportunities – in keeping with the spirit of JCI Hong Kong and its Chapters in all
their activities.

In the year ahead, these will include many worthwhile projects that benefit our
community and offer development opportunities for the young, and a particular
emphasis on sustainable development.

TODAY we celebrate for the young people, from 21 Chapters and JCI Hong Kong
Board of Directors, who are willing to commit themselves to a year of service and
dedication.

Young people nowadays have too many commitments: replying messages within
a certain hour or even minutes from the time they were sent, editing selfies for the
benefit of themselves and their friends before posting on social media, condensing
sentences to hashtags, and so on.

These commitments may seem superfluous to adults but they are very much part
of the everyday life of young people of this day and age. In other words, young
people have far more commitments than before with a shorter lifespan. As such,
seldom do we see a lot of young people enthusiastic about long-term commitments.
But this is the norm in JCI.

The mission of JCI is to provide development opportunities that empower young

people to create positive change. We know in JCI that if we are entrusted with
duties and responsibilities, we will do our utmost to fulfill them, even though this
may involve numerous meetings until late at night. Our Chapters do not have a
remunerated secretariat to back them up and everything has to start from scratch.
Because we know we are creating impact through our community projects and
hundreds of thousands of people will benefit as a result.

Our members’ commitment to place service to humanity above other areas of

personal life ought to be recognised. This is where our slogan Beyond BeLive kicks
in. We stretch ourselves towards perfection by stepping out of our comfort zone
and living life to the fullest. Our dedication will, in turn, bring about a change to
our destinies.

This year, JCI Hong Kong is committed to focus on 1) retention by re-establishing

members' JCI values through skills-based training which are transferable to their
everyday life and career if they consider themselves no longer getting anything
out of their membership 2) impact to collaborate deeper with like-minded partners
and create synergies 3) Community Development specialisation by splitting up into
separate areas to tackle the rise of community issues.

Dear Honored Members, Alumni, and Senators of JCI Hong Kong:

I extend to each and everyone of you my most sincere congratulations on the

occasion of your Inauguration Ceremony for 2018 on the 6th of January.

My hope is that this momentous occasion will be a great opportunity to bring

out the best among all the Members, Alumni, and Senators of JCI Hong Kong in
celebration of 2017 and in preparation for 2018.

Since 2014, JCI has positioned itself as the “organization that will unite all sectors
of society to create sustainable impact”. This is significant because JCI exists not
only for the sake of its members, but JCI now exists for the world, for the future, for
the accomplishment of the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development, but at
the same time to provide development opportunities that empower young people
to create positive change.

People often talk about changing the world, or at the very least, make a difference
in it. I do however subscribe to the belief that it is only when we change ourselves
can we begin to change the world around us. One must believe that “change
begins with me”.

In closing, allow me to leave you with these words from John Wesley:

“Do all the good you can;

By all means that you can.
In all the ways you can.
In all the places you can.
At all the times you can.
To all the people you can.
For as long as you can.”

Dear JCI Hong Kong National President, Board members and members

2018 is a new year, a new start to changes that begins with all of us, members
of JCI. Like my good friend, Ronald Kan, says, Beyond BeLive, I too believe that
we have always have to go beyond our limits, challenge ourselves, and have
the confidence and beliefs that you can do it. This is because we are JCI and for
decades and even one century, JCI members have gone to distances beyond their
own beliefs and have achieved things that have contributed to each and everyone
of their communities. Thus I believe, you too, can do this.

2018 marks the end of our evolution stage, the 2013-2018 plan of action and I
hope that JCI Hong Kong can fully utilize this year to wrap up the things we have
achieved the last 5 years of our evolution stage and emerge as a new butterfly
ready to flap her wings. Thus its the time to take this opportunity to create miracles
and change your destinies.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the National President and the
National Board, for being inaugurated as officers of 2018 and i hope that you
can lead your members through this year filled with life changing opportunities and
live a life true to yourself.

I also wish for the best for JCI Hong Kong in 2018 and will have high
expectations knowing that again JCI Hong Kong can be the set the new standards
in JCI. Let us all live our lives out of our boxes and let the change begins with us

Since JCI was founded, JCI has been promoting positive change in our
communities through its members. As JCI Hong Kong Inauguration Ceremony
theme for 2018, “Beyond BeLive”. In JCI, We believe that you can live your
life out of the box; live a life true to yourself; live a life of miracles; through life-
changing opportunities that can change your destiny. Creating change is often
easier said than done. "Change is such hard work." That is why JCI events around
the world, are so important. This is an ideal platform to share our initiatives and
experiences with peers from different countries and cultural backgrounds. It is also
a stimulating launch pad for turning our passion and ideas into action to make
positive change. And also, through the wide range of seminars and workshops,
we will be able to fine-tune our leadership skills and make valuable connections
with like-minded people from different places.

It is my hope that by holding fast to its belief in the JCI Creed that "the brotherhood
of man transcends the sovereignty of nations" and that "service to humanity is
the best work of life," JCI Hong Kong will continue to do its best in running this
organization, providing community service, and conducting international exchange
and cooperation.

I also recognize that this inauguration will play a key role in extending JCI Hong
Kong's service to every place, will advance concrete action toward sustainable
development, and setting a good example for all Junior Chambers. We at JCI

I am honored to join you on this auspicious occasion. The members of JCI Japan
and I are very grateful for your close friendship and strong support over the years,
and we hope to be able to continue to enjoy your warm support in the future as
well.
I look forward to JCI Hong Kong achieving great impact under the outstanding
leadership of National President Ronald Kan. Strongly united with one another,
your eyes firmly fixed on the future, I hope your National Organization will
advance even more than ever this year.
Each day, we see more and more evidence of the rapid transformation of our
Asia Pacific region into the economic and political center of the world, and the
direction our region will take is a topic of great interest to people around the
world. The future of the world depends on the choices we make here in the Asia
Pacific region. I am confident that we can take the right action based on a deep
sense of responsibility and an awareness of the impact our choices will have on

Greetings from Junior Chamber International Malaysia,

It’s indeed an honour to express my congratulations to JCI Hong Kong on your

occasion of 2018 Inauguration and thanks for inviting JCI Malaysia for this great
event.

JCI Hong Kong has demonstrated itself as a shining example for other National
Organizations through its voluntary works to the local community and consistent
grooming of young leaders for Hong Kong. The dedication and excellent work of
the JCI Hong Kong previous Board of Directors has also inspired many members
from all over the world including JCI Malaysia. I have the confident that under the
leadership of 2018 National President Ronald Kan and his dynamic National
Board of Directors, JCI Hong Kong will reach another greater height this year.

We can visit each other more often to foster the international relationship between

On behalf of the members of JCI Mongolia I would like to congratulate you and
wish you the best in the exciting year of 2018, as fellow National Presidents. I

JCI Hong Kong has been one of the role models for many National Organizations,
especially for JCI Mongolia, with its outstanding performance and projects. We

members of both JCI Mongolia and Hong Kong. The projects “Eyes on China: Belt
and Road International Youth Summit” and “JCI International Business Fair” will be
one of the platforms for realizing that.

I am truly inspired that members of JCI Hong Kong are united under the theme
“Beyond BeLive”. I have no doubt that 2018 will present great opportunities for
members of JCI Hong Kong in Changing their Destinies and Bettering the Futures.

On behalf of JCI Kowloon, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Senator
Ronald Kan on his succession to the National President of JCI Hong Kong, and his oversight
of the National Board of Directors and the local chapters.
The main reason why we join JCI is the desire to gain positive improvement for ourselves
through the participation in JCI activities, thereby raising our ability of success. This year, the
theme of JCI Hong Kong, “Beyond BeLive”, advocates that we live our life out of the box. In
doing so, we go beyond our usual scope to grasp every learning opportunity and gain new
President exposures so as to become a leader and try to change our destiny favourably.
Gilbert Lo For JCI Kowloon, ‘KEY’ is our theme in 2018, which stands for “Keep Empowering Yourself”
What will the KEY open? Not a door or treasure box but the route to success in the future. This
echoes the theme of JCI Hong Kong this year. We encourage our members to utilise the JCI
platform to unlock and apply our hidden potentials, creativity and accessibility to unreachable
goals. It allows ourselves to practise problem solving that we may encounter in the future and dig

Message from President JCI HONG KONG JAYCEETTES

On behalf of Junior Chamber International Hong Kong Jayceettes, I would like to express our best
wishes to National President Senator Ronald Kan, National Board of Directors and all local Chapter
officers on the occasion of 2018 JCIHK Inauguration.
With JCIHK’s theme “Beyond BeLive”in 2018, we, Jayceettes, will collaborate closely together with the
National Board in deepening the value of JCI Mission and Vision among our members in the coming year.
“Engage To Empower” is the theme of JCI Hong Kong Jaycettees in 2018. The objective of our project
President campaigns aim to recruit new prospective female members with interest in community-related topics, as well
Rosanna Wong as providing a new horizon to our existing members resulting an amplified positive impact to our community.
Towards the 49th Anniversary of JCI Hong Kong Jayceettes, we will be launching our third Hong Kong
Young Social Entrepreneur Contest under our Care & Dare series to empower the youth as well as the
underprivileged in the community.
We will also continue to plant our JCI seed in the primary students by promoting SDGs Junior
Ambassador Program both locally and globally.
I look forward to our coming year under the leadership of National President Senator Ronald Kan. I
believe that 2018 will be another memorable year of Junior Chamber International Hong Kong and
together we “Engage to Empower” in 2018!

「今日青商，明日領袖」國際青年商會一直也致力培育社會青年領袖為己任。

喜見 2018 新一屆各分會的領導班子即將上任，摩拳擦掌，為社會創造更多有影響力的
工作計劃，同時也讓年青人透過籌辦不同的工作計劃，學習與人相處，讓生命有正面的
改變。尤其在電子化的世代，大家也埋首電子屏幕，人與人之間的接觸越來越少，國際
青年商會這個組織更顯得珍貴。

獅子山青年商會作為國際青年商會二十一個分會的其中一個分會，一直也秉承訓練年青
王銳豪 人成為領袖的宗旨，明年我們也將繼續舉辦旗艦計劃「停用抹手紙」，帶出源頭減廢的
重要；還有第七屆的「領袖導師計劃」，希望能啟迪年青人更上一層樓；商業方面，我
們將籌辦「一帶一路國際青年峰會」，推動商務合作機會；國際事務方面，我們也鼓勵
會員參與亞太大會，開闊眼界。

最後，本人謹代表獅子山青年商會，熱烈祝賀國際青年商會 ( 香港總會 ) 及各分會，在總

會會長簡汝謙參議員的帶領下，盡展光芒，推動更多年青人服務社會，創造美麗香港。

「元」聚力量  「朗」耀社群
元朗青年商會為國際青年商會香港總會其中一個分會，多年來，我們秉承「服務社會，訓練自己」的宗旨，
以籌辦多項不同類型的地區活動。
本年度元朗青年商會的口號是「元聚力量•朗耀社群」，目的就是要集合年青人的力量，把積極公民的精神
及信念弘揚到社區，團結一心，發揮活力；透過不同的工作計劃，推動青年人積極正面的改變，共創和諧社區，
回饋社會。
會長 本屆元朗青年商會將推出一系列的活動，「第三十一屆香港特別行政區傑出學生選舉」，團結學界精英，培
育社會未來棟樑，希望日後透過各類型的活動，讓歷屆傑出學生能回饋社會，一同進行地區工作，承先啟後。

另外，為響應粵港澳大灣區項目，我們將帶領會員，與廣州市人大常委會及廣州市青年聯合會舉辦之兩日一
夜交流團。大灣區內的城市群，各具優勢，金融及服務業均十分重要，因此我們將帶領大家，一同探討機遇，
開拓新的經貿及文化合作的領域。同時，我們也將推出台灣官商交流團，帶領大家了解台灣的經濟發展，掌
握最新商貿機遇。
青年人，是需要時刻備有正能量！當發現自己能量大減時，不妨到我們國際青年商會的加油站補充能量！

On behalf of JCI East Kowloon, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the
National Board of Directors and also the Officers of all the Local Chapters on this significant
occasion of the 2018 Inaugural Ceremony.
Inauguration is an important occasion that marks the start off of new Board of Directors to
demonstrate their commitment to lead and to serve the community with passion, courage,
dedication and determination.

Path Liu Under the National theme of “Beyond BeLive”, we will work closely with the National Board
to not only live our own life out of the box, but also to provide life-changing opportunities to

According to Oxford Dictionary, “inauguration” defines as the beginning or introduction of a system, policy,
or period. Representing Junior Chamber International Queensway, I would like to express my greatest
gratitude on congratulating the inauguration to 2018 national board of directors of JCI Hong Kong and local
chapter officers in this distinguished occasion.
“Beyond, BeLive” - the theme of 2018 National Board - always serves as a reminder to us to convert the
impossible into practicable. Therefore, our slogan is “United We Fly” in 2017 and we have united to boost
President ourselves together to a new height and wider horizons beyond our dreams. And it comes,
Campbell Ting “Connect The World”.
JCI Queensway will connect with her chapter members, the local chapters and other overseas parties in
2018. Connection will also be made between us and the local community and teenagers through promoting
health development of the youth in the society. It is health that is beyond real wealth.
All in all, JCI Queensway delivers her heartfelt wishes to 2018 National Board of Hong Kong and all other
chapters every success and achieve beyond any goals under the leadership of National President Senator
Ronald Kan. “Beyond, BeLive”.

今年國際青年商會香港總會的口號為「Beyond BeLive」，是希望會員可以透過青商平
台，跳出框框，改變命運。而今年本會的口號「浩洋人 . 赤子心」亦是希望本會的會友
在本年以最真誠的赤子心去改變社會的一點點，從而訓練自己，為自己帶來積極正面的
改變。這兩句口號的相輔相成，正代表本會對總會的緊密的連結。

在全年第一個重要活動 – 就職典禮，我們董事局所有成員，已經準備就緒，與總會及其

Message from President JCI SHA TIN

On behalf of Junior Chamber International Sha Tin, I would like to express my heartfelt
congratulations to National President Senator Ronald Kan, National Board of Directors, all of the
Local Chapter Presidents and Officers on the occasion of the 2018 Inaugural Ceremony.

2018 would be a remarkable year for our Chapter as it is our pleasure to witness the birth of
the first National President from our Chapter. Having the vision of elevating our Chapter to a
President higher level, “Direct our Future” will be our theme of 2018. We believe that everyone has the
Philip Cheng right to direct their future. Through collaborative learning in our lovely Chapter, members alleviate
themselves and become the “Director” who creates a better future.

Under the leadership of National President Senator Ronald Kan and National Board of
Directors, I strongly believe that 2018 will be an incredible year with envision opportunities

 Message from President JCI LANTAU
In Year 2017, JCI Lantau was a new born baby after its affiliation in Year 2016. Our chapter
was 1 year old and just step into our second year in Year 2018.

JCI is known as an international organization to train young people. In this year, my BOD
members and I will comply the JCI mission in serving the community as young active citizens,
while growing together by learning and experiencing the culture of JCI.
President For running a chapter, it is important to have our own local style and characteristics for identifying
Idy Wong ourselves and let people know our differentiation from other chapters. We are lucky when we said
we are JCI Lantau, people will think about the place Lantau Island automatically.

With a strategic geographic location and transport infrastructures of Airport and Hong Kong-
Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Lantau will become a double gateway to China and the world.
Correspondingly, JCI Lantau will be based on JCI’s mission and vision, providing a platform for the
youth to connect to the society, to China and to the world through our projects and activities. With
slogan “Think Global, Act Local”, we will aim to empower youth to have global vision with local
action.

One year to lead is one of the core values in our organization which provides
leadership development opportunities to young people in different positions. The
Inaugural Ceremony marks a very important beginning for our leaders to inspire
more young people to create positive change for our community. We bond and
unite to ignite the bright future with our passion!

The theme of JCI Hong Kong 2018 as well as that of the Inaugural Ceremony
is – Beyond BeLive. As a leader, we often push ourselves beyond our limits and
believe that we can accomplish more as a team. Under the leadership of National
President Senator Ronald and our 21 Chapter Presidents, I believe that JCI Hong
Kong will be brought to a new height this year.

Last but not least, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Organizing

We are a membership-based nonprofit organization of 200,000 young people ages 18 to 40 in 5,000 communities and more
than 100 countries around the world. Each JCI Member shares the belief that in order to create lasting positive changes, we must

HISTORY
Our global organization of 200,000 young active citizens grew out of the vision of one St. Louisan more than 90 years ago as a
constructive approach to civic problems. Founded in 1915 in St. Louis. Missouri, USA by Henry Giessenbier, the movement spread,
and Junior Chamber International was founded with eight other countries in Mexico City on December 11, 1944.

HEADQUARTERS
The JCI Headquarter was established in 1951 and was located in Coral Gables, Florida, U.S.A., since 1969. In 2002, the JCI
Headquarter was relocated to Chesterfield St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A., where the first local organization was founded in 1918. A
professional staff of 20 full-time employees provide services to JCI members. Its chief executive officer is Secretary General Arrey Obenson.
INTERNATIONAL EVENT
The 73rd JCI World Congress will be held in Goa, India in November 2018. The winners of the Outstanding Young Persons of
the World (TOYP) Program are announced each year at the JCI World Congress. The program honors up to ten young individuals
who best exemplify the finest attributes of the world’s young people. JCI also hosts 4 regional conferences each year to conduct its
business and training as well as address items of concern and global issues. During 2018, these conferences will be held in Miami,
USA (Americas Conference; June); Cotonou, Benin (Africa & Middle East Conference; May); Kagoshima, Japan (Asia & the Pacific
Conference; May); Riga, Latvia (European Conference; June).

JCI OPPORTUNITIES
JCI can be called an organization of opportunities. The opportunities available within JCI are so numerous that it could take a
lifetime to grasp them all. Most members select those which cater to their particular needs and make the most of them. Basically,
there are four of opportunities within the organization: Individual, Community, International and Business. Projects are conducted in
each Area. As the members work on these projects, they encounter opportunities for total development.

JCI is an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with active participation in the United Nations (UN) system in the
context, JCI has relations with the Office of the UN Secretary General (Secretariat) and a Consultative Status with the Economic
and Social Council (ECOSCO). Furthermore, JCI has cooperation agreements with the UN Global Compact; the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development
(UNCTAD); the Pan American Health Organization; the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGO); the NGO
