CHS Aims and Objectives: The College of Health Sciences aims to provide quality Christian education that develops globally competent health care professionals embracing the
vision-mission of St.Ferdinand College.
Course Description: This course deals with concepts, principles, theories, and techniques in the provision of basic care in terms of health promotion, disease prevention, restoration,
and maintenance and rehabilitation at the individual and family level. It includes study of the Philippine Health Care Delivery System, National Health Situation and the Global Context
of Public Health. The learners are expected to provide safe, appropriate, and holistic nursing care to individuals and family as clients in the community setting utilizing the nursing
process.

Course Outcome: At the end of the course, the students shall be able to:

1. Apply knowledge of physical, social, natural, health-sciences, and humanities in the care of individual and family in the community setting.

2. Provide safe, appropriate and holistic care to individuals and families in the community utilizing the family nursing process
3. Apply guidelines and principles of evidence-based practice in the delivery of care to individual and family in the community setting.
4. Practice nursing in the community setting in accordance with law, legal, ethical, and moral principles.
5. Communicate effectively in speaking, writing, and presenting using culturally appropriate language in the community setting.
6. Document care of individual and family accurately and comprehensively
7. Work effectively in collaboration with inter, intra, and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams in the care of individuals and family and in the community.
8. Conduct research with and experienced researcher in the care of individual client and family in the community setting.
9. Practice beginning management and leadership skills using systems approach in the delivery of care to individual and family
10. Engage in lifelong learning with a passion to keep current with the national and global development in the care of individual and family in the community setting
11. Demonstrate responsible citizenship and pride of being a Filipino
12. Apply techno-intelligent care systems and processes to perform safe and efficient nursing activities for individual and family in the community.
13. Adopt the nursing core values in the delivery of care to individuals and families.
14. Apply entrepreneurial skills in the delivery of nursing care to individuals, and families in the community setting.

Guidelines for Students and Home Partners for Distance Learning:


Be connected: To facilitate contact and coordination and coordination and establish ways for you and your teachers, fellow students, administration and other support services, the school and your
department have created and provided you means for communication like messenger account, e-mail or text messaging. Check it daily for announcements, in your LMS most especially the Major
subjects other notification and for inquiries. 

Be focused: Have a good place for your home study. Find a place in your home where you are comfortable, away from destruction/noise, with good lighting and ventilation. Set a table for you to
write on and type.
Be organized : Know your schedule; date and time for Google meet or zoom session. Give priority to your lessons, assignments and other learning tasks given by the teacher and record the date of
submission of outputs. Go over and remember your weekly activities. Contact your teacher for any queries about your lesson. In the event that your teacher does not respond, you can contact the
College Secretary to facilitate your concern. Note! Be sensitive with time, as much as possible contact your teacher during office hours.

Be punctual always: Do not forget to check in. Be conscious of your class schedule. Log in at least 5 minutes before your scheduled class meeting.
Be well groomed: Consider that you are in school even during distance learning. Dress up appropriately . During zoom or google meetings where you are in virtual contact with the teacher and
classmates. Be in your school uniform (top portion). Be sure to look good and neat.
Be well-behaved: Act as if you were in face to face contact with your teacher and classmates in school. Sit properly, talk politely, No eating during online classes but you can have drinking water
beside you; no conversing, no cell phones while online is going on.
Be participative: Participate actively during discussions. Ask questions regarding things you do not understand. For College students, engagement and participation in class discussion is given a
weight of 30% in the grading system. Submission of outputs, activities, assignments and projects has a weight of 20%. Quizzes are another 20%. Result of major examination (Prelims, Midterm &
Finals) is 30%
Be Honest: Make sure that all your output, answers to quizzes and assignments are products of your own efforts. If your output is taken from the book or website, make sure to properly cite the
phrase or word to avoid plagiarism.
Reminders During Google and Zoom Session
1. Always keep your video ON throughout the session
2. Put your microphone on MUTE when not speaking/reciting. Turn it ON only when you are asked to recite or speak.
3. Click the Raise HAND sign on your screen if you want to recite.
