Thank you everyone, I know some of you are wondering why I am asking you what your course way back
in college is, it is because my topic for today’s demo will tackle my course way back in college , so guy
let’s talk about architecture?
In one word may I know what comes on your mind when you hear the word Architecture?
AUDIENCE ANSWER
Thank you everyone, way back then before entering Architecture, like some of you when I heard it
before one word comes on my mind is drawing, but you know just a trivia “It is a big misconception
about taking architecture that you need to be good in drawing because let me be your living testament,
yes it is an advantage but not required especially you know guys, nowadays we are in the modern era
where everything can be done by technology even drawing.
Everyone let’s move on to what this demo really about what is the objectives of this presentation.
OBJECTIVES
First and foremost let me define first what truly architecture define?
Architecture is the art and technique of designing and building, as distinguished from the skills
associated with construction. It is both the process and the product of sketching, conceiving, planning,
designing, and constructing buildings or other structures. In short, we architects are the one who really
starts before buildings houses or any structures constructed. We design, we plan and even leads the
construction.
But to be honest the way to become an Architect is not an easy picy . There's no such thing as
INSTANT ARCHITECT in our modern times today. Architects undergo several stages in their
academic and professional life. Here is the different stages that we go through based on personal
experience
1. The freshman day, literally freshman since you will start your architecture dream with fresh face,
fresh mind and fresh body. Kidding aside, This beginning of your journey always starts with your
decision to enroll in the program. The 5-years Bachelor of Science in Architecture is the only
program as per Law the R.A 9266 is the academic requirement to qualify for the Licensure
Examination aside from the 2-years Apprenticeship. If you want something to happen, you have to
make the 1st Step, or else it will only be just a dream with no action.
2. The Testing Stage usually occurs in your 2nd or 3rd Year of Architecture Education. It is the stage
where some of your classmates will shift to other programs because they realize that Architecture is
not for them. It is where panic or anxiety kicks in, especially for those unsure about their 1st choice
of Program in College.
3. The Grad-Waiting phase. You've managed to survive your 4th year after many struggles and
victories. Now is your time to shine that will define your last year in College life. Choosing a Thesis
Title and Topic is among the most crucial in this stage. It is the year where you will Defend your
Thesis twice. 1st in Design 9 for your Thesis Title Defense, which is more on research, Data
Gathering, and justification of your proposal. 2nd is in Design 10, which is the execution stage. It is
the period where you will formulate and produce your Designs Boards based on your approved
Thesis Title in Design 9.
4. The Apprenticeship Stage. In Architecture, graduates are not automatically qualified to take the
Licensure Examination. We have to undergo DAE or the Diversified Architectural Experience. As
per our law in Article III SECTION 13. Qualifications of Applicant for Examination which states
that an Aspirant "has a specific record of at least two (2) years or equivalent of diversified
architectural experience duly certified by a registered/licensed Architect"
The Apprenticeship stage aims to expose and develop aspirants from various skills and knowledge
related to Architecture and the Allied Engineering field. There are different fields and specialization
an Apprentice can pursue and gain experience in the industry. They can apply to Architectural Firms,
Construction Companies, Project Management firms, Real Estate Developers, Property Management
firms, Government sectors, and Small to medium scale Design-build firms of Architects.
5. The Licensure Examination. Preparation for the Exam starts once you've graduated from College
and entered an Apprenticeship. But the most crucial part is your Review of the Exams. It takes at
least 6-months of preparation to cover all the Subjects and Topics of the examination. You have to
accept the fact that you cannot study everything. Once you've passed the Licensure Examination and
taken your oath, you are now a Legitimate REGISTERED AND LICENSED ARCHITECT. You
may now use the title ARCHITECT in your name, official documents, and Plans.
6. Finding your purpose. Passing the Licensure Examination and becoming an ARCHITECT is
another phase of our professional career. Being an Architect doesn't mean that you already know
everything. This early stage is finding our niche and what we want to pursue in our profession. It is
the stage where we tend to be uncertain of where we are or be anxious about where we can be in the
future. It is the stage where we hunger for more knowledge and specialization because we don't want
to be just Regular Architects. It is a stage of experimentation if we should focus on Design,
Construction, Project Management, Academic Research, or other fields related to Architecture.
It is also the stage where we get the urge to Enroll in Graduate school to obtain a Master's Degree, a
diploma or any certifications available to elevate our practice and knowledge.
This stage is really the hardest to really find your purpose, may I ask some of you for you guys what
do you think is your purpose?
7. The Continuous Professional Growth. Once you've found your purpose and area of specialty, we
as Professionals should continue to grow and learn. Learning is a never-ending process. No one
knows everything. That is why PROGRESS is more important than aiming for Perfection. We
always have to be better than what we used to be. We also learn from the experiences we gain
through the years and learn from other professionals we encounter in our field. It is also our duty to
share those experiences with the next generation of Architects. To make this profession prosper, we
have to continue inspiring our next generation of Architects. We shouldn't be selfish in transferring
knowledge and wisdom to others.
Just remember to always "TRUST THE PROCESS"
Now, that you already have knowledge what are the stages to become an architect, I hope that
knowing this stages you may help other people maybe you son daughter, cousins or any person for
them to really know what is the process for them to become architect.
After this stages let us watch this video where we can discuss after all that stages what is the truly
roles and responsibilities of an Architect.
The video literally say it all, Architects design and plan structures and buildings, develop projections
for construction time, lead construction and also meet with clients.
Okay guys, this is it we really comes to the end of my demo, may I ask if you have any questions?
If you don’t have questions let me gave some FAQ’s or frequently asked questions on social media.
QUESTION 2: Pareho lang po ba ang BS Architecture and yung mga 3-4 years na Architectural
Technology, Architectural Drafting Technology or iba pang mga Drafting degees?
ANSWER: A BIG NO... Drafting Technology or Drafting is just a tool or method to interpret an
idea. Drafting is not the Profession itself.
These programs are focused on the technical knowledge of Drafting skills and not the Practice of
Architecture in General.
QUESTION 4: Di po ako magaling mag drawing. Pwede pa din ba akong mag Arki?
ANSWER: Yes. If it's truly your passion and dream to become an Architect, pursue BS in
Architecture. Yung skills or talent sa pag drawing may give you an advantage in your Early years sa
College.
What is important is yung creativity, imagination, and knowledge mo about Architecture. Also, a lot
of research will help you survive this Program.
Eventually, these imaginations and knowledge can be interpreted through Digital once you've learned
different Software.
Architecture is more than just an Art. Architecture involves different branches of science and even
economics.
Architecture is also more than just software. Hindi porke magaling ka mag AutoCAD, SketchUp and
the likes eh Automatic Architect ka na or pwede ka nang mag Practice ng Architecture.
Architects can pursue different types of expertise in their practice hindi lang basta pag gawa ng
Design.
Tandaan:
"Hindi lahat ng magaling mag drawing eh naging magaling na Architect, at hindi lahat ng magaling
na Architect eh magaling mag drawing".
I think this the end of my presentation, I hope even you are not Architect, I instill knowledge with
you with regards of our profession. Thank you everyone for listening and participating.
