A. Reviewing previous lesson or Teacher: Suppose you are given a data for research.

There are many barangays in the Philippines. According to
surveys, the largest barangay in terms of population size is
Barangay 176 in Caloocan City with 247 thousand persons.
Next are the Commonwealth in Quezon City (198, 295) and
Batasan Hills in Quezon City (161, 409). Following in the
list is the Cubao (126,687), and Fairview (91,304) both
found in Manila.
Teacher: Is there any other way to present the data in an
organized manner?
Students: Yes ma’am.
Teacher: If so, how?
Students: Through a table ma’am.
Teacher: Very good! Now, can you show it to us by drawing
it on the blackboard the data being presented into a table?
Student 1: Yes ma’am. (Student is expected to draw on the
board.)
Teacher: Okay that’s good. That’s a better presentation of
the data that we have. Now, class what do you think is the
lesson that we have today?
Student: Organizing and Presenting Data
Teacher: Very good! Now class, answer and discuss the
following activity in a whole sheet of paper by group.

B. Establishing a purpose for the Teacher will divide students into small groups (5 or 6
lesson individuals per group). Evenly distribute students based on
ability.

Consider the following graphs and charts and answer the


questions that follows:

1. What information can we get from each of the above


charts or graphs? Discuss each chart or graph.
2. Do they present the same information?
3. Describe each of the charts/ graphs. What do you think are
some uses of each of the charts or graphs?

Call random students to answer the questions.

Teacher: Okay class, now it is clear to you that graphs/charts


have different uses and types for you to present your data.

Teacher will show to students data being encoded in the


Microsoft Excel or Spreadsheet. Afterwards, highlight the
data and show to students to go to INSERT toolbar and then
select Chart. From the selection in the chart, the students can
choose what type of table representation they can utilize.
