RIGHT TRIANGLE 9. In triangle MTC, MT=25cm and TC=10cm. Compute the probable (PYTHAGOREAN TRIANGLE) perimeter of the triangle. a. 72 r2 = x2 + y2 b. 71 x = r cos θ c. 70 y = r sin θ d. 69 SITUATION OBLIQUE TRIANGLES Given triangle ABC, how many possible triangles can be formed for the (NO RIGHT ANGLE) following conditions: SINE LAW 10. BC = 15cm, AC = 7cm, AB = 8cm. a b c 11. BC = 17cm, AC = 12cm, AB = 7cm. = = 12. BC = 16cm, AC = 26cm, angle A = 42.3°. sin A sin B sin C 13. AB = 37cm, AC = 26cm, angle B = 32.5°. COSINE LAW a2 = b2 + c 2 − 2bc cos A b2 = a2 + c 2 − 2ac cos B c 2 = a2 + b2 − 2ab cos C
1. Two poles of equal height are standing opposite to each other, on
either side of the road. From a point between them on the road, 2m from the first pole, the angles of elevation of top of the poles are complementary. Given that the width of the road is 8m wide, find the height of the poles.
2. P is a point on BC of the triangle ABC such that AB = AC = BP. If
PA = PC, find the value of the angle ABC.
3. Towers A and B are constructed on a horizontal plane, B being
200 m. above the plane. The angle of elevation of the top of Tower A as seen from point C in the plane (in the same vertical plane with A and B) is 50˚, while the angle of depression of C viewed from the top of Tower B is 28˚ and the angle subtended at the top of Tower B by the top of Tower A and C is 50˚, find the height of A.
4. The angle of elevation of the tower from A is 25 degrees. From
another point B, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 56°. if the distance between A and B is 300 m and on the same horizontal plane as the foot of the tower. The horizontal angle subtended by A and B at the foot of the tower is 70°. What is the height of the tower?
5. Points D and E are the midpoints of the sides BC and CA,
respectively, in triangle ABC. If AD=5 and BC=BE=4, find the length of CA.
6. Airplanes A and B are flying with constant speed in the same
vertical plane at angles 30 degrees and 60 degrees with respect to the horizontal, respectively. The airspeed of A is 100 sqrt 3 meters per second. Initially, an observer in A sees B directly ahead at the same altitude at a (horizontal) distance of 500m. Assuming they take no evasive action and collide, after how many seconds does this happen?
7. From a point outside an equilateral triangle, the distance to the
vertices is 10m, 10m, and 18m. Find the dimension of the triangle.
8. An engineer desires to measure the height of the tower by
observing a vertical angle at A. He then moves 54 m further towards the tower at B and observes the vertical angle to be twice that of A. He again proceeds to move further towards the tower at C still on the same line at a distance of 21m. The observed vertical angle of the tower at this point is three times that at A. Determine the angle of elevation of the tower at B.
