METHOD STATEMENTS

FOR

INSTRUMENT WORKS
1. Scope and Objective of Work

5. Pre-Start Requirements for Site

1. Client site rules and procedures to be followed.


2. Preparation of all required tools for the execution of the intended works.
3. Assuring of Provision of safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
4. Ensuring working area is clear of obstruction and hazard.
5. Visual lnspection of the Tools required for the intended works.

Preinstallation

1. All procured material and approved shop drawings relevant to this works will be checked by the
construction department of the client representative prior to commencement of works.
2. Ensure all drawings are approved and available to the installation team.
3. Material used such as lunction boxes, Pipes, sensors, supports and related accessories will be as
approved by the Client.
4. The Location and lnstallation detail as per approved shop drawing and Manufacturer instruction.
5. lnstallation of cable ladder shall be as per the approved shop drawing.
6. Ensuring Structure works and Mechanical Equipment (including related piping, tubing and related
accessories) completion before starting of the installation of cable ladders.

1. Every ltems delivered shall be inspected to ensure compliance to specification, Data sheet & free from
damages. Ofoading shall be in responsible & Safe Manner.

2. Receipt of each package items shall be documented with details such as received date, type of parts or
fittings, quantity, and avoid loss of parts during storage
3. All lnstrument Shall be stored and kept inside room or container and shall be protected from sunlight
and moisture (Dry and ventilated)

4. After Field installation, all instruments shall be protected by means of plastic covering or any mode of
protection applicable against from dust, rust, scratches, denting, and other external factor that can cause
damaged to the unit.

Installation

1. Field lnstrument shall be installed as per Approved Shop drawing and typical installation details drawing.
And instrument prior installation using as a reference shall be oriented so that the scale faces the direct
access approach to the equipment with them is associated.

2. lnstrument shall be accessible for use, calibration and repair without requiring the removal of piping,
grating or other structure. This requirement also applies to the removal of any covers or housing that is
part of the instruments or its installation. Also ensure that the installation shall not be subjected to shock
excessive vibration or temperature extremes.

3. Location of instruments shall permit easy access from grade, permanent platforms or stairways for
operation, inspection and maintenance. All vent valves or tubes connected to vent ports shall be
directed away from the normal personnel access position.
4. Field instruments shall be installed in accordance with individual project Specifications Standard.

5. All lnstruments shall be co rectly leveled and aligned before fastening to the supports.

6. All necessary preparation, instrument and associated supports must be according to the approved shop
drawing.

7. Supports, brackets, hangers etc. for equipment and materials should be installed so as not weaken the
structure to which they are attached.

8. Before installation of all the instruments, it should be calibrated / pre-installation calibration.

9. lnstruments shall be installed in conformance with manufacturer’s instruction.

10. Tubing should be formed with exact size bender and installed so that no stress is exerted up on the
installation.

11. After instrument installation sunshade should be installed.

12. The instrument cable shield should be earthed in control room, field side should taped and isolated.

13. Field mounted instrument such as transmitters. Control valves, and controllers, shall have name plates
displaying the field tag number. Name plates shall be attached to instruments at a salient position, if
practical.

14. All unused conduit entries in fittings, and equipment shall be plugged using manufactured threaded
plugs or caps. Cable and air entries of all equipment shall be made weather tight temporarily and make it
permanently after test, if any.

15. The support type, sunshade type, sunshade size and installation should be according to the typical
detailed drawing.

16. lnstrument lunction Boxes has to be installed as per approved shop Drawing in a proper manner and
accessible location and supporting.

17. Clean the job site after installation.

18. lnstalled material shall be protected in the field from dust and foreign material.

19. All unused holes shall be plugged with blind plugs.

1. Visual lnspection: The Field lnstrument shall be inspected visually for any damages during and after the
transportation, also after installation.

2. All installed field instrument shall be inspected for elevation as per the lFC drawings. All record has to be
reported and written.

3. Work execution, material approval and testing shall be monitored witnessed and recorded on documents in
accordance to the inspection list, QC form given by applicable lTP field installation and its support.

4. lnstrument inspector shall carefully check against lFC drawing for the following items:
• Check for correct elevation
• Check the correct size and materials.
• Check for proper grounding.
• Check for correct mounting
• Check for adequacy of supports.
• Check for adequate sunshade installation.
• Check for the correct polarity of the instrument supply.
5. After lnstallation Continuity, lnsulation Resistance (megger) and loop check have to be applied for all
instrument and control.
