material
- Ensure all man hole already opened, have enough acces and safe for worker
during activity pulling cable.
- Ensure the existing cable has been protect from mechanical damage using Gunny
Sack , wooden board and or blue sheet and then barricade the area cable.
- Secure area for lifting process using crane. Makesure to use suitable heavy lifting
equipment
- Prepare any lifting equipment in a good condition & already inspected by safety
officer with submitted permit and safety analyst.
- Make sure the crane, operator, and rigger are certified according to local
regulations and safety factor for lifting calculations.
- Positioning cable drum following site condition wich is the position is make easy
for acces heavy equipment (crane) for moving cable and pulling cable activity.
- Lift the cable drum using a crane to mount it on the cable jack. make sure the
position of the cable jack is safe from landslides or flooding and easy for workers
to access. install barricades around the cable jack area or working area.
- Unload the cover of the cable drum using a crowbar, hammer, saw and or the like.
Disassemble carefully, don't injure the cable. After that, collect the disassembled
cable drum covers (wood, nails, plates, etc.) in one place provided.

6.2 General Construction for installation
METHOD STATEMENT 7
6.2.2 Cable Placement
All cable described in the Circuit List shall be routed as indicated therein.
Routing of other cable shall be as indicated on the drawings.
If at any time during the progress of the work the subcontractor finds
raceways which appear inadequate to accommodate the assigned cable, he shall
notify at once and shall discontinue any further work on the questionable raceway
until advised by maint contractor as to how he shall proceed.
All cable shall be carefully checked both as to size and length before being
pulled into conduits or ducts. Cable pulled into the wrong conduit or duct or cut too
short to rack, train, and splice shall be removed and replaced.
- The cables are drawn in full length without jointing. Therefore, approximate
length of cable is established prior to installation.
- The cables are installed on the tray in a way that their continuity is ensured at all
times.
- Test the insulation resistance of the cables prior before & after pulling.
- Check that ladder/trays are free from any sharp edges and have sufficient space
for installing the cables.
- The cable will be pulled by using pulling means such as rope, cable pulling socks,
and a winch machine so as not be damage the cable or its containment system.
- Cable roller will be placed under the cable during pulling over long distance and
standoff roller for acute bands, to ensure that the cables are pulled with minimum
effort and the cable outer jacket is free of scouring lines.
- Do not allow the cable to twist or rotate about its longitudinal axis
- Install cables to allow anyone cable to be subsequently removed without
disturbing the remainder.
- Damage cables will be removed unless the engineer agrees to a repair. Protection
of cables against possible mechanical damage will be provided wherever seen to
be necessary by the engineer. All cables are to be run with particular regard to
neatness. Multiple runs are to be arranged so that cables entering or leaving the
run do so in a logical order.
- Cable pulling lubrications can be used where it is difficult to pull the cable or
otherwise advised by the Supervisor Engineer. Make sure the lubricant will not
deteriorate the cable insulation.
- It will be ensured that the correct set and type of reel roller are used for cable
pulling.
METHOD STATEMENT 9
- The cable will be free of any static load i.e. to be placed side by side parallel on the
cable tray or ladders. Any kind of dead weight on the cable will be avoided.
- At all-time, the cable schedule & section drawings for the relevant area will be
referred to ensure proper location on cable on the required ladder/tray and to
ensure compliance with project specifications.
- The cable will be secured to the containment system using approved cable
tie/cable cleats for horizontal and vertical runs. The minimum distance between
the cable tie will be 0.5m but the details available on the approved shop drawing
will be followed.
- At all-time of pulling, mark both power and earth cables for pairing them on both
sides of the connection i.e. at sending and receiving ends.
- Sub-main cables of every individual circuit are bunched and tied together with a
PVC cable tie for easy identification.
- At both end of the cables, a marking is done for ease of identification. The
markings are done by either one of the following methods:
1.Circuit numbers marked by using masking tape with writing.
2..Circuit numbers marked by cutting on the PVC sheath of the cable.
3.Colored sleeve/vinyls (Black, Brown and Gray) are inserted at the end of the
sub-main cables
4.Touch up areas where damage or cuts occur with paint to match the existing
color secure cable with cabe tie make a proper dressing.ID tag number and
spacing for cable, for expose outdoor cable tray put and install cover tray to
protect cable from weather.
- For pulling cable activites at height level, use schafolding or standard safety
regulation and has been verified/inspected. must be using safet full body harnest
,hooked up 1005 for worker and hand gloves for general pulling cable.
6.2.5 Pulling Cable on Trunking
- Before cables are being drawn into trunk, it is important to ensure cable coils to
be used is of sufficient length as no cable jointing is allowed.
- Test the Continuity and/or insulation resistance of the cables prior before & after
pulling
- Cables are laid down on the floor along the trunk route to ensure that the cables
are of enough length.
- The cables are installed in the trunk in a way that their continuity is always
ensured. The PVC sheathing of the cables is checked to ensure that they are not
damaged during the process of installation.
- Sub-main cables of every individual circuit are bunched and tied together with a
PVC cable tie for easy identification.
METHOD STATEMENT 10
- At both end of the cables, a marking is done for ease of identification. The
markings are done by either one of the following methods:
- Circuit numbers marked by using masking tape with writing.
- Circuit numbers marked by cutting on the PVC sheath of the cable.
- Colored sleeve/vinyls (Black, Brown and Gray) are inserted at the end of the
sub-main cables.
- Touch up areas where damage or cuts occur with paint to match the existing

- A sufficient additional length is allowed for the termination of the cables into light
fitting, socket outlet point, distribution boards and etc.
6.2.6 Pulling Cable on Ceiling
- All cable described in the Circuit List shall be routed as indicated therein. Routing
of other cable shall be as indicated on the drawings.
- Test the Continuity and/or insulation resistance of the cables prior before & after
pulling
- All cable shall be carefully checked both as to size and length before being pulled
into conduits or ducts. Cable pulled into the wrong conduit or duct or cut too
short to rack, train, and splice shall be removed and replaced.
- Be careful when going up to the ceiling, use approved access, make sure the
lighting is adequate for work, always use the full body safety harness and attach it
in the right place.
- Use a handy talkie to communicate with fellow workers
- At both end of the cables, a marking is done for ease of identification. The
markings are done by either one of the following methods:
1.Circuit numbers marked by using masking tape with writing.
2..Circuit numbers marked by cutting on the PVC sheath of the cable.

schafolding. Do not step on the panel or that can cause the panel to be damaged,
scratched or other damage.
- If using schafolding, during the schafolding installation process, do it carefully so
as not to affect the damage to the panel and its components.
- If you are forced to climb onto the panel, use a thick base for footing and make
sure to use a full body harness and 100% attached.
- When doing cable pulling or trimming cables on the panel, do it carefully,
attaching the full body harness to a proper and strong place. Keep the ends of
cables and cables from impact with sharp objects, wear gloves and always
coordinate with fellow workers.
- Cutting the cable to the connection point should not be too long. Spare enough
and protect the ends of the cable pieces with rubber insulation and cable markers
as markers
- Test the Continuity and/or insulation resistance of the cables prior before & after
pulling
- At both end of the cables, a marking is done for ease of identification. The
markings are done by either one of the following methods:
1.Circuit numbers marked by using masking tape with writing.
