QUESTION 1
Nadima Primary School is a great school in Gauteng, and it is located within the City of
Tshwane, Mamelodi West. It is a public school that caters for the children in the area.
Although the medium of instruction for learners in the Intermediate Phase is English, the
learners speak a diverse range of languages such as isiZulu, Sotho, and Tsonga. A family
member has been hired as the Home Language teacher at the school, what advice would
you give to manage a multicultural school setting like Nadima Primary School?

You have prepared a listening activity for your learners “Jane’s Visit to the Doctor” for your
grade 4 learners listening and speaking lesson.
Dr Moeketsi looked in Janey’s eyes. Then in her ears. Then he tapped her knees. ‘How much
sport do you play?’ asked Dr Moeketsi ‘I don’t play sport,’ said Janey. ‘How many hours a day
do you spend outside?’ he asked. ‘I hate being outside. I like to stay inside and watch TV!’ ‘I
know exactly what’s wrong,’ he said. ‘Janey watches too much TV! The TV has made her sick!
She just lies on the couch like a blob and watches the screen. Her eyes are sick! She needs
glasses – from watching too much TV. Her head is sore – from watching too much TV! Her
arms and legs are weak because she doesn’t get enough exercise. When Janey and her mom
came home, Janey ran to the lounge, but .... the door was locked. ‘Quick, Mom, I’m missing
my programmes.’ ‘From now on,’ her mom said, ‘you are allowed to watch only one hour a
day. The TV will be locked inside the lounge, and I will have the key.’ And so now, Janey
watches TV for only one hour a day. But she has real friends now, so she doesn’t miss her TV
friends. She plays outside with Theo and enjoys sport. She learnt an important lesson
