Technical Skills:
What is the OSI model?

Answer: The OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model is a conceptual framework used to understand
how different networking protocols interact. It consists of seven layers, each responsible for specific
functions like data transmission, addressing, and error detection.

Explain the difference between TCP and UDP.

Answer: TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is connection-oriented and ensures reliable data delivery
with error checking and retransmission. UDP (User Datagram Protocol) is connectionless and offers faster
data transmission but without reliability checks.

What is DNS, and how does it work?

Answer: DNS (Domain Name System) translates human-readable domain names into IP addresses
computers use to identify each other on the network. It uses a hierarchical structure of servers to resolve
domain names to IP addresses.

Describe the steps you would take to troubleshoot a computer that can't connect to the internet.

Answer: Steps might include checking physical connections, pinging the default gateway, checking DNS
settings, testing with another device, and analyzing network logs.

What is a firewall, and how does it enhance security?

Answer: A firewall is a network security device that filters incoming and outgoing traffic based on
predefined security rules. It helps prevent unauthorized access, data breaches, and malicious attacks.

Explain the concept of IP addressing.

Answer: IP addressing is a numerical label assigned to each device on a network. It consists of an IP

address and subnet mask, used to identify the network and host portions of an address.

How does RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) work?

Answer: RAID is a technology that combines multiple physical disks into a single logical unit for
performance, redundancy, or both. Different RAID levels offer various trade-offs between speed, capacity,
and data protection.

What is DHCP, and how does it work?

Answer: DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) automatically assigns IP addresses and network
configuration settings to devices on a network. It streamlines network management and eliminates manual
IP assignment.

Explain the concept of a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

Answer: A VPN creates a secure, encrypted connection between a user's device and a remote server. It
allows users to access private networks securely over a public network like the internet.

How would you handle a situation where a user's computer is infected with malware?

Answer: Steps would involve isolating the infected device, scanning for malware using reputable antivirus
software, removing the malware, and educating the user about safe online practices.

Soft Skills:
How do you approach communicating technical issues to non-technical users?

Answer: I focus on using simple language, avoiding jargon, and providing relatable analogies to help users
understand the problem and its solution.

Describe a time when you had to handle a difficult customer. How did you resolve the situation?

Answer: Provide an example of a challenging interaction, emphasizing active listening, empathy, patience,
and finding a mutually beneficial solution.

How do you manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment?

Answer: I prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact, use task management tools, and communicate
transparently with stakeholders about timelines.

Explain a situation where you had to collaborate with a cross-functional team to solve a technical
issue.

Answer: Describe an instance where you worked with colleagues from different departments to
troubleshoot and resolve a complex technical challenge.

How do you stay updated with the latest IT trends and technologies?

Answer: I regularly read industry publications, attend webinars, and participate in relevant online
communities to stay informed about emerging technologies.
