EXAM PATTERN
General Instructions:
1. This paper is in three Sections - Section A – Reading Skills; Section B – Creative
Writing Skills; Section C - Literature Text Book and Supplementary Reading Text.
2. All sections are compulsory.
3. Separate instructions are given with each section and question. Read them
carefully before attempting the question.
4. Do not exceed the prescribed word limit while answering the questions.
5. Number your answers according to the numbers given on the question paper.
6. In the objective answers, mention both, the number as well as the correct
sentence.

Section A – Reading Skills 22 Marks:


Q1. One unseen passage to assess comprehension (12 Marks)

Q2. One unseen case-based factual passage (10 Marks)

Section B – 18 Marks : Creative Writing Skills

Q3. Notice (4 Marks)


Q4: Formal/Informal Invitation and Reply (4 Marks)
Q5: Job Application/ Letter to Editor (5 Marks)
Q6: Article/ Report Writing (5 Marks)

Section C – 40 Marks
Literature Text Book and Supplementary Reading Text

7. One Poetry extract out of two, from the book Flamingo (6x1=6 Marks)

8. One Prose extract out of two, from the book Vistas (4x1=4 Marks)

9. One prose extract out of two from the book Flamingo (6x1=6Marks)

10. Short answer type questions (from Prose and Poetry from the book Flamingo) (5x2=10
Marks)

11. Short answer type questions, from Prose (Vistas), (2x2=4 Marks)

12. One Long answer type question, from Prose/Poetry (Flamingo), (1x5=5 Marks)

13. One Long answer type question, based on the chapters from the book Vistas
(1x5=5 Marks)
