3.2 WORKING PRINCIPLE

3.2.1 General
This section contains a functional description and detailed theory of operation of the
equipment. A system block diagram of the Controller is shown in Figure 3.2 and 3.3.
The control of temperature is achieved by means of air circulation system as shown in
Figure 3.1. A controlled amount of room air is drawn through the air intake filter by means of the
motor-driven impeller on the Controller and then drawn back to motor though air return filter.
Circulated air flows through temperature sensing sensor. Temperature Controller automatically
modulates the temperature inside Hood according to the temperature sensed by the air
temperature sensing sensor.
Heat output control under air mode: Control the output of heater according to the air
temperature automatically.
Heat output control under baby mode (If applicable): Control the output of heater
according to the skin temperature automatically.

3.2.2 Temperature Control

In Air Mode, the controller will control the incubator temperature automatically to keep the air

temperature close to the set value. Comparing the air temperature and the air set temperature,

the controller will adjust the heat output proportion to keep the heat balanced inside hood. The

other probe inside of air sensor is regarded as the isolated temperature sensor, when set

temperature is <37℃incubator temperature must be ≤38.0℃ (while when set temperature is >

37℃ incubator temperature must be ≤40.0℃), the heater is cut off automatically.

In Baby Mode, the controller will control the incubator temperature automatically to keep the

skin temperature close to the set value. Skin sensor is attached to the skin of patient. Comparing

the skin temperature and the skin set temperature, the controller will adjust the heat output

proportion to keep the heat balanced inside hood. In the whole baby mode, the isolated

temperature sensor of air sensor always monitors the inside temperature, when the incubator

temperature is ≤40ºC, the heater is cut off automatically.

When the baby mode is working, if the skin temperature sensor drops from the socket, the

skin temperature indicator displays “--.-”, the sensor alarm actives and the heater is cut off

automatically.

3.3 ALARM
STATE

1. Alarm information

High priority: The most urgent information, red alarm light flashing, alarm sounds more than

65dB(A); alarm in five tones order, ring twice, and every 2.5 seconds to repeat

again.

NOTE: The sound of power failure alarm whose sound source is a single buzzer which is

different from other high priority alarms.

Medium priority: Medium priority information, yellow alarm light flashing, alarm sounds more

than 65dB(A); alarm in three tones order, and every 7.5 seconds to repeat

again.

2. The alarm preference is arranged according to the alarm serial number, the bigger the serial

number is, the lower level is. When various failures appear, the alarm prompts according to the

priority, the sound is different too.
