Network Assinment

The document contains information about subnetting a network using classful and classless subnetting. It includes: 1) Calculations for the number of networks, hosts per network, and hops for a subnet mask of 255.255.240.0 (a class B address). 2) A table listing the network ID, range of host IPs, broadcast IP, and subnet mask for 16 subnets of the 172.16.0.0/20 network. 3) An example of finding the network ID by ANDing an IP address with the subnet mask.

Assignment-1

Name : Maged Sarhan Ahmed Hansa ‫ ماجد سرحان امحد حسن‬: ‫االسم‬

Department : Computer & Control ‫ حاسبات وتحكم‬: ‫القسم‬

Course : Network ‫ شبكات‬: ‫المقرر‬

Subnet mask = (255.255.240.0)10 ➔(11111111.11111111.11110000.0)2➔ class B , so N = 4 1`s , H = 12 0`s

1- Number of networks = 𝟐𝐍 = 𝟐𝟒 = 𝟏𝟔
2- Number of hosts = 𝟐𝐇 − 𝟐 = 𝟐𝟏𝟐 − 𝟐 = 𝟒094/𝑛𝑒𝑡𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘
3- Number of hops = 2𝐻(𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑜𝑐𝑡) = 24 = 16

The Net ID , First IP, Last IP, and broadcast IP in the table below

No NET ID/mask Hosts ( first – last ) IP broadcast IP Subnet mask

1 172.16.0.0/20 172.16.0.1 - 172.16.15.254 172.16.15.255 255.255.240.0

Note : if we take any random IP from hosts and make an "and" with subnet mask , it will give us the written network address

To find Net ID we make " and " between subnet mask and the Ip , so

Subnet mask = 255.255.255.11100000

and

Random IP = 172.19.90.00111000

Net ID = 172.19.90.00100000 = 172.19.90.32

So , net ID = 172.19.90.32
Hosts = 2𝐻 − 2

Subnet mask = 32 - H
