This document outlines a lesson plan for a 12th grade class on understanding culture and society from anthropological and sociological perspectives. The objectives are to demonstrate a holistic understanding of culture and society and identify aspects of culture. The lesson will cover aspects of culture such as culture being learned through socialization rather than biologically determined, and cultures being integrated yet sometimes unstable systems. Students will discuss new concepts, consider whether cultures need to adapt other cultures, and explain the perspectives of anthropology and sociology on culture and society. The teacher will evaluate learning and additional activities are planned for students requiring remediation.

roles he occupies, and the behavior patterns and values of
the society into which he is born.
*Culture is learned rather than transmitted biologically.

them more or less fit together and interlock to form a
consistent whole; for example, the technology with social
