Short Story Of Montresor
Ah, how delightful is it to see you, my beloved Montresor! A blabbering party host by
the name of Fortunato throws his arm over my shoulder, inebriated though it s only
noon as of yet. I had hoped to avoid him altogether for as long as possible. You see, he
s invited me to dine with him during his annual solstice dinner. Here the cups of wine
run over and high piled plates are plentiful. The vexatious manners (or lack thereof)
held by Fortunato s fellow noblemen and women poison in the air. Alcohol sloshes
from the drunken man s mug as he waves it about, speaking with his free hand. My
dear, dear friend, have I been waiting for you. Everyone, this is Montresor. The
collection of assorted guests murmur and giggle, pointing at the fool at my side. I
step away from the mess of a man and smile politely. As I have said, these guests have
no manners. To snicker and sneer at their own host how poorly raised they must have
been. I ve only come to see that your soiree was going as smoothly as planned. I m on
my way to my brother s, so I fear I cannot stay for long. With an eldritch turn of the
head, Fortunato protests. Why Montresor, you ve only just come. You simply cannot
leave just yet. My guests would think me an unhospitable host if you left so soon, and
I simply cannot have that. Come, let us get you some food, shall we? Before I can
speak an utterance, he leads me to an ostentatious display of lackluster dishes plated as
though they were snow grouse. Have your pick. Please, you must enjoy yourself.
Relax, if only for a little while. Still yet, the tittering crowd stares at their fidgety host
and, by extension, me. I assure you, I ve already ate. I really must hurry and be gone.
Nonsense, says he, piling bits of various dishes onto a platter for me. Nonsense. A
quick plate will be just fine, don t you worry. Here, eat. Shoving a plate of what now
look to be unseasoned, undercooked meats and wilting vegetables under my nose, the
host smiles warmly. With a sigh, I oblige, eating only a bite of each hors d oeuvre.
Glancing at the gaggle in front of me, they all seem to parrot my movement. I test this
The Greatest Kings Of Ancient Babylon
There were many leaders who tried to control and ensure power for themselves and their
citizens. Many would go to the extreme to maintain their powers and others would let the
people s influence, influence them. Some places that had leaders were, Mesopotamia,
Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, and even India. One of the most important leader back in
1795 BCE was Hammurabi, but was overthrown in 1750. He was the leader in Babylon
but was taken down by Assyrians. The Assyrians had taken over Babylon, had made it
their own, and have changed so much. They forced all the people to move out to their
Assyrian Kingdom and obey the Assyrian Kingdom. Hindus practice a religion called
hinduism which was formally started in India. Many people had to live by hinduism
because they were born in it. They won t be able to change who they are, it was
basically impossible. King Nebuchadnezzar was one of the greatest kings of Ancient
Babylon. He was considered the best kind because he had restored old religion
monuments and improved waterways. He was able to control the periphery because of
him and his strong and professional army. It is hard just to pick one best leader but
most will say that Hammurabi was the best one, only because of how was able to
maintain his city in peace and maintain his power.
Hammurabi was the sixth king of Babylon from 1792 BCE to 1750 BCE. When
Hammurabi first became king of Babylon it was all quiet and peaceful. He had many
loyal citizens and they obeyed everything he
Syrian Kurds And The Civil War
In the midst of the chaos of the on going Syrian civil war, the nation of Syrian Kurds
has slowly coalesced and formed its own self proclaimed sovereign country, complete
with its own constitution and form of government. Though still in its early days, it has
already collaborated with international powers to fight off terrorist groups, and remained
a strong hold in the region of northern Syria. This conflict will continue to evolve and
have major implications for the future of Syrian Kurds, and other groups in the region
with regard to questions of resource control and Kurdish sovereignty.
This is a conflict that requires national attention and concern because Syrian Kurds are

Therefore, this will be an area of further conflict due to the resources this region holds.
When the fighting in Syria subsides, the Kurds in this region stand to lose their self
proclaimed autonomy due to outside influence and interest in these scarce resources.
This paper examines the challenges Rojava will face in the coming years, and the
possible necessary steps needed for the Kurds to claim stability in a region surrounded by
opposition.
This paper asks: how has elite manipulation for political, economic, and territorial gains
produced unfavorable circumstances for the Syrian Kurdish population? And how will
this factor into Kurdish claim of sovereignty in Rojava, given the region is rich with
scarce natural resources? Therefore, the main point this paper will argue is that elite
manipulation aided in creating the Kurdish ethnic conflict within Syria in the decades
leading up to the Syrian civil war, along with how this elite manipulation holds the
potential to cause further problems for Kurds when it comes to the issue of autonomy
and self governance in the region they have claimed as their own. In other words, the
Kurdish ethnic conflict within Syria will create further problems for the notions of
proclaimed Kurdish

UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS INTELLIGENCE OFFICER

The United States Marine Corps is looking for a Few Good Men for their Officer Corps.
There are a few different ways to achieve the rank of Second Lieutenant. Some officers
go straight from college to a recruiter, and others join as an enlisted Marine and apply for
an officer rank later in their career. I am applying for a commission from the enlisted
ranks. I have found that enlisted to officer programs have many requirements and can be
somewhat confusing, but the goal of making a move from enlisted to officer can be
accomplished as long as I are willing to put forth the effort to achieve that goal.
There are two programs that I can utilize to make the transition from enlisted to ... Show

Once OCS is completed, I will be transferred to The Basic School for field training.
Officer Candidate School is ten weeks long and The Basic School is six months long
(Marine Corps University). All Marine Officers must attend these two schools. During
field training at The Basic School, I will receive my military occupational specialty as an
intelligence officer.
As a new intelligence officer, I will be required to receive formal education through
various intelligence schools. The first step in my intelligence training will be approached
at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center. At this school I will receive
intelligence schooling in fundamentals, analysis, and interpretation (The Navy and
Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center). I will then be transferred to Goodfellow Air
Force Base for training within Signals intelligence, imagery intelligence, or human
intelligence.
Upon completion of the my bachelor s degree, acceptance through the ECP, Officer
Candidate School, The Basic School, Initial Intelligence Training, and Military
Occupational Specialty Intelligence Training, I will receive orders back to the Fleet
Marine Forces. The move from the enlisted ranks to the officer ranks may be very
confusing, but this goal can be accomplished as long as I stay focused and move one
step at a time.

Ethiopia s Red Terror
Primary Sources:
Abebe, Belay. Mengistu s Red Terror. Personal interview. 11 Oct. 2016.

The interview with Belay Abebe provided a first person experience of what happened
during the Ethiopian Red Terror. Throughout the interview, Abebe answered questions
that provided insight on how Mengistu took control of the Ethiopian government, cruel
things that Derg did to citizens, and personal encounters with the party themselves. Abebe
stated that the Red Terror originally occurred because Derg had forcefully switched
Ethiopia to a communist state, and in the process of doing so, they took away land and
businesses away from the citizens. Because of this, many of the Ethiopian citizens started
to peaceful protest against the government. Abebe states ... Show more content on

utilized and the quantity of organizations required in propelling it. Second, an important

A Research Study On Animal Research
Imagine waking up one morning to find your husband or wife lying unconscious in
bed spewing a pool of black bile from their mouth and onto the pillow gently supporting
their head. Imagine having to call the paramedics to rush your loved one to the
emergency room only to find out that your partner has been diagnosed with a rare and
deadly disease. Imagine the frustration you feel when the doctor pulls you to the side
of the waiting room to inform you that a vaccine has proven to be effective in treating
this disease in lab rats. Would you accept the doctor s suggestion and have your soul
mate be treated with this vaccine not knowing whether or not it would work? Or
knowing that the cure may have come from unwilling test animals? Or would you
ultimately let nature run its course and let your spouse die? Over the years, animal
research has led to the development of numerous vaccines and cures that are now used to
save lives in several countries across the globe. Scientists and doctors alike acknowledge
this and recognize how essential and beneficial animals are in biomedical research.
However, before discussing the different views that are associated with conducting
biomedical research experiments on animals, one must understand its history. It is a
common misconception that animal research is a new scientific and medical practice,
but it is actually an ancient procedure. Animal research began in ancient Greece, ... where

Computer Networks And The Network System
The world is full of technology, in this ever growing world this technology needs to be
connected. Everything is interconnected through the internet nowadays. The internet is
the connection of assorted computer networks through a series of service providers and
businesses. In order to create these networks, there needs to be devices known as
routers, switches and firewalls. These devices have some very well known vendors, such
as, Cisco and Juniper. Juniper uses an operating system called Junos. Junos OS is a great

Ciarlone say in a statement One of the first things that Juniper realized was that, due to
Cisco s monolithic pricing, smaller businesses were being shut out of high end
networking almost entirely (Ciarlone). He goes on to say that using Juniper products
are great for small to medium sized networks. Cisco has moved up to higher tier
networking and thus their equipment has upped in price as well (Ciarlone). Juniper is
aimed at not only the big networking side but also heavily caters to the small scale
network side. The devices range in different tiers of price and ability. The biggest
difference has to be the price in the products. The price of a product can make or break
a company s network infrastructure; not all companies can budget themselves for the
greatest network infrastructure. Jim Duffy compares and contrasts these two
networking giants and points out many differences, Jim goes on to quote Jeff Doyle,
the president of IP consultancy Jeff Doyle and Associates saying The reality is, IOS is
pretty old. [JUNOS] was architecturally designed differently. It s more modern and
modular, meaning bug fixes are easier and functional failures tend to be not as
impactual as they are with as IOS. (Duffy). The modularity of Junos is what makes it a
cut above the rest. Junos has a modular OS, Junos uses separate module to do the
