Book Review Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Book Review Essay" can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty lies in the multifaceted nature of the task, as it requires a careful balance between
providing a summary of the book, critically analyzing its content, and expressing your personal
opinions. Here are some aspects that contribute to the complexity of crafting such an essay:
1. Understanding the Book: Before even beginning to write the essay, one must thoroughly
read and comprehend the book in question. This involves not only grasping the plot but also
delving into the themes, characters, and the author's writing style.
2. Analytical Skills: A successful book review essay goes beyond summarizing the plot. It
requires the ability to analyze the author's intentions, the effectiveness of their storytelling,
and the impact of the book on its readers.
3. Balancing Summary and Critique: Striking the right balance between providing a brief
summary of the book and offering a critical analysis can be challenging. Readers should get a
sense of the book's content while also understanding your perspective on its strengths and
weaknesses.
4. Expressing Personal Opinions: While incorporating personal opinions is encouraged,
articulating them in a coherent and convincing manner requires skill. It's essential to support
your views with evidence from the book.
5. Structuring the Essay: Organizing thoughts in a logical and coherent structure is crucial for
any essay. In the case of a book review essay, it involves introducing the book, presenting a
summary, offering a critical analysis, and concluding with a thoughtful reflection.
6. Avoiding Spoilers: Striking a balance between providing enough information to engage the
reader and avoiding spoilers for those who haven't read the book can be tricky.
Despite these challenges, writing a book review essay can be a fulfilling experience, allowing you to
engage deeply with literature and share your insights with others.

Harvey Velocity Theory
Shortly after the Mets 4 2 victory over the Marlins on Wednesday afternoon, the Mets
quietly announced that RHP Matt Harvey was being sent to the 15 day disabled list
for discomfort in his right shoulder. This roster move followed weeks of struggles on
the mound for Harvey, who has thus far pitched to career worst marks in ERA and K
/9 marks, en route to a 4 10 record on the season. While he s still actually pitching
respectably (by FIP, Harvey s been keeping pace with Zach Greinke, Jordan Zimmerman,
and David Price), this is not the season we ve come to expect from the Dark Knight. So
what has been tormenting the pride of Gotham?
The Velocity Theory
One big factor could be Harvey s velocity. Harvey s average velocity on all of his pitches

But no pitcher will ever go up on the mound without any defense behind them (unless
you re Satchel Paige), because most pitchers won t be striking out everyone they face
(and by most, I mean all). Inevitably, some batter will make contact and put the ball in
place, at which point, getting the batter out becomes the responsibility of the defense.
Typically, some balls will fall in for hits, but most won t. The percentage of the balls put
in play that become hits is measured using BABIP, or Batting Average on Balls In Play (it
s also pretty fun to say). BABIP can be used to measure how good the defense is
behind a pitcher, in addition to how unlucky or lucky they are. Comparing their current
season figure season to their career number can let you know if a pitcher is over or
under performing. For instance, Jon Lester of the Cubs has been pitching this season
with a .265 BABIP, which is significantly less than his career number of .299 this
indicates that he s been the beneficiary of good defense and good luck while on the
mound.
So what does this have to do with Harvey? Everything. On the season, Harvey is pitching
to the tune of an incredible .353 BABIP more than 60 points worse than his career
average. His .353 figure is the second worst in the MLB only Robbie Ray is pitching
with a worse BABIP, .364 (and Ray s career BABIP is .339, so the difference between

Whooping Cough Mark Near
(Article from the Fresno Bee, September 16th, 2010)
Every year or season a slightly different flu strain awakens, infecting our human
population. This fall it s the whooping cough, also called pertussis. It is causing many
deaths, especially in infants. Many health officials have grown concerned with this
unexpected new threat, mainly because the babies are too young to be fully immunized
by the illness. It s essential to understand how this virus is effecting our population and
what procedures must be taken in order to prevent it from continuing to spread. The
article Whooping Cough Mark Near, from the Fresno Bee, describes the conditions of this
new occurring virus. According to the article, the ... Show more content on

Therefore, any amino acids produced in cellular respiration can contain the bacteria
Bordetella Pertussis. One of the symptoms of this illness is a fever, if it becomes too
high it can cause proteins to unravel and loose its normal shape. This is called a
denatured protein; which are related to many diseases. In order for a protein to
function correctly, the structure has to be normal. The primary structure of a protein
its sequence of amino acids causes it to fold into its functional shape. (Simon, Reece,
Dickey, page 48). In other words, if the amino acids aren t functioning correctly, the
proteins can become misfolded. The disease is named for the distinguishing sound
produced when those who are affected attempt to breathe in. The whoop was created
because of the inflammation of the laryngeal structures that vibrate when there s a
quick inflow of air. This illness is affecting many individuals and as the years continue
to pass it s only getting worse. The sad part is; it s mostly present in infants. More are
dying because of the whooping cough; they aren t getting a chance to experience life. It s
extremely important for parents to make sure their children receive the vaccine before it s
too late. The future is unpredictable; this illness can end up causing a new virus next
year, which is why every individual should receive the vaccine recommended. If a new

Risk Taking Behavior Analysis
Adolescence is a time where physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional
changes are all involved in the transition. Risk taking is important in shaping the
adolescence s identity, use their new found decision making skills, and access
themselves, others, and the world around them. (American Psychological Association,
2015). The two risk taking behaviors I chose are risky sexual activity and regular alcohol
use, which are two behaviors that intertwine. When, parents of adolescents do not inform
them about sex, they receive the information through other means such as from their
peers, television, and online, (Berk, 2010) the source of information is often misdirected,
absent, or erroneous, which can lead to risky sexual encounters.

Introduction:
Remanufacturing has now a days become very popular from auto motives, electronics to
IT because it makes production economical and environmentally attractive. But it s not
fully accepted by customers because of quality and aftersales concern. Two new service
modes (extended warranty and free replacement service) are developed to address this
problem. Using mathematical models, financial benefits are evaluated to see whether
these modes make significant difference or not.
The survey of Sinotruk Jinan Fuqiang Power Co., Ltd. (JFP) customers using
remanufactured heavy truck engines is carried out with information if and how two
newly designed service modes can provide financial gains over traditional service
modes. This company is well known for selling more than 50% of the total
remanufactured truck engines all across China
Benefit evaluation by 5 steps:
1.Demand and profit function is used to determine benefit of the services. The first step
includes calculating warranty, replacement length and price which changes according to
real life situation. Same can be calculated for remanufacturing products.
2.The survey is conducted to find out how many customers are
