LITERATURE MATRIX PLAN Lastimosa

The literature matrix plan outlines how Joebelle Lastimosa will teach her 8th grade students about short stories over the course of one quarter. She will use three assessment tasks to teach students how to determine an author's tone, mood, technique, and purpose. The tasks include an oral recitation with discussion, dividing students into groups to analyze stories, and having groups interpret excerpts using different writing styles. The plan aims to help students understand how authors convey meaning through literary devices over the course of a 90-minute lesson.
