NARRATIVE REPORT ON CATCH-UP FRIDAY

I. Introduction

Aligned with the MATATAG: Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa agenda,

and in steadfast commitment to the Department of Education's ongoing dedication to
advancing literacy and fostering lifelong learning, (Ibona Elementary School)
conducted its Kick-Off Program on Catch-Up Friday, incorporating Project DEAR (Drop
Everything and Read). This initiative not only bolstered students' critical thinking skills
but also contributed to the improvement of their reading proficiency.

In the morning, the Kick-Off Program commenced with the school principal,
(Zelma F. Teodoro), providing an overview. The event also included the signing of the
Pledge of Commitment and an orientation of suggested activities by, (Jahyala Kristal D.
Fabricante). Following the program, teachers gathered by curriculum for a meeting to
discuss necessary tasks.

In the afternoon, a re-orientation took place, and students engaged in an activity

related to PROJECT DEAR. Specifically, they participated in a lot of activities like story
reading and analysis, led by (Jahyala Kristal D. Fabricante). The activity involved
reading the story together, unlocking vocabulary difficulties, listing unfamiliar words,
providing synonyms, and engaging in think-pair-share discussions to collaboratively
interpret the message of each paragraph. After sharing ideas, students had the
opportunity to write their analyses and reflect on the lessons learned from the story.
