ABSTRACT :

The implementation of efficient traffic light controllers is crucial for managing vehicular flow and
ensuring safety on roads. This report outlines the design and simulation of a traffic light controller using
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to mimic real-world traffic signal operations. The objective is to create a
robust and adaptable system capable of regulating traffic in a simulated environment.

The proposed traffic light controller employs a microcontroller unit (MCU) to orchestrate the timing and
sequencing of LED signals, simulating the behavior of conventional traffic lights. Through careful
programming and design considerations, the controller offers flexibility to accommodate varying traffic
demands and optimize traffic flow efficiency.

Key features of the controller include dynamic phase adjustment based on real-time traffic conditions,
synchronization of signals at intersections, and integration with pedestrian crossings where applicable.
Additionally, the system incorporates fault tolerance mechanisms to ensure reliability in case of
component failures or unexpected events.

Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the traffic light controller in managing traffic flow
while minimizing congestion and delays. The scalability and adaptability of the system make it suitable
for deployment in diverse urban environments, contributing to improved road safety and enhanced
transportation infrastructure.
