Using adjectives
Teacher guidance
This worksheet pack provides differentiated support for learners to apply their
knowledge of using adjectives in different places within a sentence. Learners need
to select the most appropriate adjective from increasingly complex vocabulary and
sentence structures.

How to introduce the worksheets to the class


Explain the task to the learners. They are going to explore a variety of adjectives and then
choose the best adjective to use in a variety of sentences. They will write the sentences
in their notebooks.

How to match the learner and the worksheet


If you are already aware of learners’ understanding of how to use adjectives in
sentences, you may want to guide some or all your learners towards individual
worksheets. Alternatively, you may prefer to let learners select their own worksheets,
using the information provided here, and assess how well they do before recommending
what they should do next.

How to encourage learners to self-select


Use this chart to share information about the worksheets with learners.
Tell them what each worksheet asks them to do.
For Worksheet 1A say: Use this worksheet if you find it helpful to have a selection of
familiar words to choose from and are unsure about where to use an adjective in a
sentence.
