4A’s Lesson Plan in Mathematics for Kindergarten

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to;
a. Solve an equation that contains two single digit numbers with objects.
b. Recognize the symbol for addition.
c. Show adding two single numbers with accuracy.

SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Addition with Single Digit Numbers

Resources: Mathematics for Preschoolers
Time Allotment: 1 hour
Materials: Flash cards/ pictures of objects, and PowerPoint presentation

LEARNING PROCEDURE
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
Prayer: The prayer will be led by pupil B.
Greetings: The teacher will greet her/his pupils.
Checking of Attendance: The teacher will check their attendance.

DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
Drill: Games: Arrange the rumble letters.

2. D D A - ADD
Review: The teacher will ask the pupils what was our topic yesterday.
Unlocking Difficulties: The teacher will give an activity to the pupils.
Add/Plus- join (something) to something else so as to increase the size, number,
or amount.

MOTIVATION
The teacher will play a music video about the Counting Songs - Learning Addition.
The teacher will ask the pupils.
What was your idea about the video?
What symbol they use for adding the numbers?

ACTIVITY
The teacher will group the pupils into 2.
The first group will have a Set A items, the second group will have the Set B items.
Set A contains – a worksheet with a big print of plus sign (+) symbol, eggshells and
glue.
Set B contains – a worksheet with a big print of plus sign (+) symbol, dry leaves and
glue.
The teacher will let the pupils to show their task and present it to the class.

ANALYSIS
The teacher will ask the pupils.
What is your idea about addition?
Who among you know what symbol ‘’+’’ is this for?

ABSTRACTION
The teacher will introduce the topic.
Addition Is taking two or more numbers or object and adding them together
The teacher will show some adding equation to the board.
The teacher will give 5 examples.
The teacher will tell the class the uses of addition and how to solve single digit numbers.

APPLICATION
Directions: Fill the frame. Circle the correct number.
1. How many hotdogs are still needed to make 10?

2. How many toy-cars are still needed to make 9?


3. How many cakes are still needed to make 5?

4. How many books are still needed to make 7?

5. How many fish are still needed to make it 3?

GENERALIZATION
The teacher will ask the pupils.
