the employee’s company file.
6.5.5 Although not formal training as such, toolbox talks are an extremely
useful means of updating and refreshing previous training that has
been received, or highlighting areas of concern. The objective is to
help workers recognize and control hazards on a project.
6.5.7 The topic of the talk should be chosen to suit the particular site and
work conditions. For example, there is little point giving a talk on the
use of chainsaws if none are being used on the job. These rules may
provide guidance on toolbox talks:
Include the Hazards & Safety precautionary measures includes
in Risk Assessment And Safe Work Practice Checklists.
Gear your talks to safety problems you encounter at the
moment or that you anticipate in upcoming jobs.
Review recent injuries – what happened, why did it happen,
and what should have been done.
Review recent safety violations – what was the violation, what
hazard did it create, and what injury could have occurred.
