Preliminary Stuff:

• GC PACS 1.5 Setup CD - Standalone (including GC PACS 1.5 setup, MSDE setup,
Acrobat Reader, etc.)
• GC PACS 1.5 Image CD –Standalone (including system platform disk image files.)
• Windows 2000 Professional (English Version) Setup CD
• Windows 2000 Service Pack 4(English Version)
• Dell OptiPlex Resource CD
• PowerQuest Drive Image Pro 4.0 (PQDI)
• GC PACS Disk Map document
• GC PACS Service Manual

Hardware platform:

Standard hardware platform is listed as below:


• Dell OptiPlex GX270 (P4 2.4GHz CPU, 512/1024MB memory, 40GB+(>80GB) HDD,
NIC, Modem)
• Dell OptiPlex GX260 (P4 CPU, 512MB memory, 20GB+80GB HDD, NIC, Modem)

Installation Steps:

If the hardware configuration is the standard Dell OptiPlex GX270 or GX260, restore
system from image file following the steps described in step 0, otherwise install/reinstall
system following step 1 and step 2.

0. Restore system from image file with PQDI.

0.1. Insert GC PACS 1.5 Image CD - Standalone into CDROM drive, boot from
CDROM, select item1. Start computer with CD-ROM support.
0.2. Insert diskette with PQDI utility.
0.3. Change work directory to relevant drive path and find the PQDI.
0.4. Run “PQDI.exe”.
0.5. Select Restore Image.
0.6. Select image file of Hard Disk 1 from Image CD, which is located in
“\IMAGES\DISK1.PQI”.
0.7. Click Next, the partition information inside the image file will display, click Select
All, all partitions, including C:, D: and E: will be checked.
0.8. Click Next, select the Disk 1 as the destination drive.
0.9. Click Next, and click Delete Disk Partitions.
0.10. Select Disk 1 and click Delete All, click Yes when pop up warning dialog, all
partitions on Disk 1 will be deleted.
0.11. Click Close to return.

0.12. If the destination disk is same as the source disk or large than the source disk, user
should select option “Leave remaining unused space”when PQDI asks how to
deal with unused space.
If Disk1 size is less than the source disk size in image file, click Resize Source
Partitions to resize partition to proper size, click OK and Accept.
(Note: Resize partition1 - C:(System) if there is a need to resize.)
0.13. Click Next, click Finish to start restore, when pop up message as ‘the partition
may not be bootable, Are you sure you want to do this? ’, Select Yes.
0.14. Click Yes to view restore result, then click Close.
0.15. Recover Hard Disk 2 from image file with PQDI, restore image from GC PACS
1.5 Image CD directory: “\IMAGES\DISK2.PQI”.
0.16. Click Next, the partition information inside the image file will display, click Select
All, all partitions, including F: and G: will be checked.
0.17. Select Disk 2 as the destination drive.
0.18. Delete all partition on Disk 2.
0.19. Click Next, click Finis h to start restore, when pop up message as ‘the partition
may not be bootable, Are you sure you want to do this? ’, Select Yes.
0.20. Begin restore all partition in Disk 2, resize partition F:(Image) if need, when pop
up message dialog of set Active partition, select No.
0.21. Eject CD and reboot, and then go to step 3.

1. Install Windows 2000 Pro (English Version)

If Windows 2000 Pro is already installed on the workstation and the partition type of drive
C and D are NTFS, skip step 1 and go to step 2.

1.1. Insert Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional CD (bootable) into CDROM and boot
Gx270 workstation from CDROM.
(Note: press F12 following the screen prompt, and select 5 IDE CD-ROM Device
as boot device)
1.2. On Win2000 Setup screen, press Enter to continue.
1.3. After check the EULA, press F8 to continue.
1.4. On Boot Partition screen, press C to create a boot partition on 40GB hard disk.
(Note: if other partitions exist hard disks, then delete these partitions.)
1.5. Create partition of size as disk map defined and press Enter to return, press Enter to
continue.
1.6. Select Format the partition using the NTFS file system option and press Enter
1.7. After formatting the partition, system will reboot.
1.8. On Regional Settings dialog box, Click Next.
1.9. On Personalize Your Software dialog box, input Name and Org, and then click
Next.
1.10. In following dialog box, input your product Key.
(Note: please check label on top panel of the PC.)
1.11. Input computer name and administrator password
(Note 1: the computer name should not be “PARISGC”).
(Note 2: the administrator password should be “pdchi2002”)

1.12. On Date and Time Settings dialog, select the time zone: GMT+08:00 Beijing,
Chongqing, Hong Kong and Urumqi, disable Automatically adjust clock for
daylight saving charge option, then click Next.
1.13. After the system installing the network and other components, click Finish to
restart.
1.14. When the system boot and begin setup, click Next on Network Identification
Wizard dialog box.
1.15. On User of this computer dialog box, select Windows always assume the following
user has logged on to this computer option, select Administrator user and input
administrator password, click Next.
1.16. Click Finish on Completing the Network Identification Wizard dialog box.
1.17. When the system restart, On Getting Started with Windows 2000 dialog box,
disable Show this screen at startup option, and click Exit.
1.18. Insert Dell Resource CD into CDROM, start Resource CD installation. This will
install needed hardware driver: Main board, Video card, Sound card, USB 2.0 Hub,
Modem (optional), and NIC.
1.19. Install “File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Server”to enable FTP service.
1.19.1. Enter “Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Add/Remove Windows
Components”.
1.19.2. In “Windows Components Wizard”dialog, deselect other items, and select
“Internet Information Services (IIS)”, click “Detail… ”.
1.19.3. In “Internet Information Services (IIS)”dialog, select “Common Files”,
“File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Server”and “Internet Information Services
Snap-In”, and deselect other items, then click “OK”.
1.19.4. In “Internet Information Services (IIS)”dialog, click “Next”, and following
the prompt, insert Windows 2000 Professional CD, and browse to “\I386”
directory.
1.19.5. After installation, click “Finish”to end FTP service installation.
1.20. Set “Telnet”service as “Automatic”startup (default is “Manual”startup) from
“Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services”.

2. Install Windows 2000 Professional (English Version) Service Pack 4

2.1. Right click on “My Computer”, select “Properties”, and check general info of
“System Properties”. If Service Pack 4 is already installed on the machine, skip
step 2 and go to step 3.
2.2. Insert Win2000 SP4 CD into CD-ROM.
2.3. Run W2KSP4_EN.exe from CD-ROM in Explore window.
2.4. In Win2000 SP4 Setup Wizards dialog box, and then click Next.
2.5. In License Agreement dialog box, select I Agree, and then click Next.
2.6. In Select Options dialog box, select Archive Files option, and then click Next.
2.7. Now updating your System, click Finish in Setup Wizards dialog box.

3. Windows 2000 Professional Optimization

3.1. Change locale and language settings

3.1.1. From Start ->Settings->Control Panel, double click Regional Options .
3.1.2. In General Tab, select your locale (location) :
For English version, do nothing.
Chinese (PRC) for Simplified Chinese version
Chinese (Taiwan) for Traditional Chinese version
Other locale for the relevant version
3.1.3. Select Language Settings for the system according to your selected locale :
(Note: change language settings may require Windows 2000 Server CD.)
For English version do nothing.
Simplified Chinese for simplified Chinese version
Traditional Chinese for traditional Chinese version
Other language for the relevant version
3.1.4. Click “Set default… ”, and select the appropriate locale in popup “Select
System Locale”dialog:
For English version, do nothing.
Chinese (PRC) for Simplified Chinese version
Chinese (Taiwan) for Traditional Chinese version
Other locale for the relevant version
3.1.5. If Chinese Input Method is wanted, please switch to Input Locales tab and add
the specific Input Method.
(Note: please refer to the windows 2000 online help for more information.)
3.1.6. Click OK to quit

3.2. Disk management


3.2.1. Log on with administrator account to the system.
3.2.2. From Start->Settings->Control Panel-Administrative Tools, click
Computer Management dialog box.
3.2.3. Click Disk Management.
3.2.4. Modify the disk volume and driver letter of CD/DVD device.
C: System
X: CD/DVD Driver
3.2.5. Click Create Partition, the popup window, the result is shown below:
(Note: the size of Disk E and G must be preferential allocated, the other disks’
size may be allocated proportionally according to the actual size of the hard
disk. please refer to the disk map doc for details; All partitions should be
created as primary partition)

HD-0: (40GB)
System(C:) Local Disk NTFS 18.00GB
Swap (D:) Local Disk NTFS 2.5GB
PreCD (E:) Local Disk NTFS 18.00GB

HD-0: (20GB, for those systems upgraded from Workstation GC V1.0)


System(C:) Local Disk NTFS 13.50GB
Swap (D:) Local Disk NTFS 1GB
PreCD (E:) Local Disk NTFS 5.00GB

Data (F:) Local Disk NTFS 76.00GB

3.2.6. Close the Computer management window.

3.3. Change swap file properties


3.3.1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3.3.2. Double-click System.
3.3.3. In the System dialog box, select the Advance tab.
3.3.4. Click Performance options , and click change.
3.3.5. In the Virtual Memory dialog, click the D: volume label, then set the initial
value of virtual memory size. We suggest to set the size of virtual memory as
1.5 ~ 2 x size of physical memory.
As for 512MB physical memory, type 768 in the min value text box, and type
1024 in the max value text box, then click Set.
As for 1GB physical memory, type 1536 in the min value text box, and type
2048 in the max value text box, then click Set.
3.3.6. Click the C: volume label, in the both initial value text box, and the max value
text box, type 0.click Set. Ignore the System warning.
3.3.7. Click OK, quit Virtual Memory dialog, Click OK, quit System dialog box.
3.3.8. OS will popup window to advise you restarting system, click OK to reboot
directly.

3.4. Create a user account that is used to perform service operation.


(Note: this step may be ignored if the system is installed according to Step 0.)
3.4.1. The user name is “ekservice”, password is “ekhi2002”, and add it into
“administrators ”group and set its “Password never expires”.

3.5. Configure FTP service.


(Note: this step may be ignored if the system is installed according to Step 0.)
3.5.1. Enter “Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Internet Services Manager”.
3.5.2. Double click the node of Host Name, then the node “Default FTP Site”will be
expanded, then right click this node and select “Properties”from menu.
3.5.3. Click “Security Accounts”Tab, then change the “UserName ”to “ekservice”
and “Password”to “ekhi2002”.
3.5.4. Deselect “Allow Anonymous Connections ”to disable anonymous login.
3.5.5. Select “Home Directory ”Tab, then change “Local Path”to
“C:\PARISGC\Service”directory.
(Note: if this directory does not exist, please create this directory firstly.)
3.5.6. In “Home Directory ”Tab, select “Read”, “Write ”and “Log visits”.
3.5.7. Click “OK”, then close “Internet Services Manager”dialo g.

4. Install MS SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine SP3

If the system is built up using GC PACS Setup CD according to Step 0, the MS SQL
Server 2000 Desktop Engine SP3 is also installed as well. So skip step 4 and go to next
step.
If the system is not built up using GC PACS Setup CD, please install MS SQL Server
2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) SP3, which is language-dependant. Before installation,
please check whether any SQL Server edition is installed, if yes, please uninstall it firstly
from Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs , and delete relative installation directory,
by default is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server, then perform MSDE SP3
installation as below:

4.1. Log on with administrator account to the system.


4.2. Install MSDE SP3 from “\TOOLS\MSDESP3\”directory in GC PACS 1.5 Setup
CD. For different language version of GC PACS, please run relevant installation
script file - “MSDEINST_XX.BAT”.
For Simplified Chinese version, run MSDEINST_SC.BAT
For Traditional Chinese version, run MSDEINST_TC.BAT
For English version, run MSDEINST_EN.BAT
4.3. After installation, restart the system.

5. Optional Installation

The GC PACS system supports some optional hardware, including high-resolution


monitors, paper printers, and label printers.
If any optional hardware is to be used, please install the driver using relevant installation
package before system software installation.

6. Install GC PACS 1.5 Application Programs

6.1. Check if any old version of GC PACS 1.5 is running. If yes, please stop the system
using service tools (C:\PARISGC\Service\LcService.exe ) firstly, and then
uninstall the old version from Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs .
6.2. After un- installation procedure completes, please check if the directories
(C:\Program Files\PARISGC\PACS and C:\PARISGC\Service) still exist, and
if yes, please delete these two directories manually.
6.3. Reboot the machine.
6.4. Check right-bottom of the taskbar, make sure SQL Server is running. If not, start it
from service manager (click Control Panel-> Administrative Tools->Services to
launch the service manager and start MSSQLSERVER from it)
6.5. Insert GC PACS 1.5 Setup CD into CD-ROM.
6.6. Install GC PACS 1.5 application from “\PACKAGE\”directory in GC PACS 1.5
Setup CD. For different language version of GC PACS, please run “WGGC-
STD.exe ”under the relevant subdirectory.
For Simplified Chinese version, enter “\SC”subdirectory
For Traditional Chinese version, enter “\TC”subdirectory
For English version, enter “\EN”subdirectory
6.7. On Setup Wizards Welcome dialog box, click Next.

6.8. On License Agreement dialog box, select I Agree, and then click Next.
6.9. On following Summary dialog box, click Install to begin installation.
6.10. Now updating your System, and click Finish on Setup Wizards dialog box to end
program installation.
6.11. After installation succeeds, please restart the machine. When system restarts, it will
use “parisgc”account to login Windows automatically, and the GC PACS 1.5
application will startup auto.
Please use service password to exit to desktop to perform following operation.

7. Install Acrobat Reader 4.0

If the system is built up using GC PACS Image CD according to Step 0, the Acrobat
Reader 4.0 is also installed as well. So skip step 6 and go to next step.

7.1. Insert GC PACS (V1.5) Setup CD into CD-ROM.


7.2. Navigate to sub folder “\TOOLS ”and Run “ar40.exe”.
7.3. On License Agreement dialog box, select I Agree, and then click Next.
7.4. On Destination Select dialog box, accept the default destination path “C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Acrobat40”, and then click Next.
7.5. Click Finish to end the setup.

8. Add License

8.1. Run “cmd”to display command window.


8.2. Run “cd c:\PARISGC\service”.
8.3. Run “lcservice ”.
8.4. Select “9.License Tools ->1.Display License Status ”to check license status.
8.5. If license is not added, select 2.Add License to add license (Please refer to the
service manual for details).
8.6. If backup/restore license is wanted select 3.Backup License /4.Restore License
(Please refer to the service manual for details).
8.7. After add license, close the command window.

9. Network Setting

9.1. Set “Host Name ”of system from “Control Panel”of Windows.
9.2. Set “IP Address”of system from “Control Panel”of Windows.
(Note: don’t use DHCP network setting.)
9.3. Add an Incoming Connection for remote access via the preparative Modem by
using Windows “Network Connection Wizard”from “Control Panel”. Assign
“ekservice”as the login user of remote access and use static IP pool for RAS. Set
IP pool started from 169.254.0.1 to 169.254.0.4.

10. Configure System

10.1. Check the GC PACS system service is running. If not, please start the system using
service tools (C:\PARISGC\Service\LcService.exe) firstly.
10.2. Run service configuration application from service directory in local system
(“C:\PARISGC\Service\service_cfg.exe ”) or from any service machine if the
service configuration application is installed on it and it has been connected with
current system.
10.3. Input Server IP address, login the server using default user name: “ekservice”, and
using password: “ekhi2002”, and setup the following sections.
(Note: Refer to the “GC PACS Service Manual” for more details.)
• Modality Register (Mandatory)
• Printer Register (Mandatory)
• Other WGGC Register or 3rd Party PACS Register (Optional)
• DICOM Setting, including AE Title and Port No of all kinds of DICOM
Services of current GC PACS system, such as SSCP, PSCU, SSCU, QRSCP,
QRSCU. (Optional)
• System Setting, including System Info registration, PreCD settings
(Mandatory), and Server IP Configuration (Optional)
• Archive Setting, including archive mode, archive watermark of different data
storage (Optional)

For FE:

After system installation and it works well, it’s better to:


• Backup the license to “G:\Backup”directory
• Make an image of partition C, if windows crashed, it may be used to recover C.
(Note: it is a mandatory step for the system not installed from GC PACS 1.5 Image
CD, but is an optional step for the system installed from Image CD because you may
recover C: partition from image CD directly)

Reference:

• Online "User Guide" in "C:\Program Files\PARISGC\PACS\manual" directory, or


open it from GC PACS 1.5 application.
• Ctrl+shift+F9 to active Task Manager
• Ctrl+shift+F11 to switch current active program
• Default service account of GC PACS 1.5 application and Windows system is
“ekservice”with password “ekhi2002”, which could not be changed.
• Default admin account of GC PACS 1.5 application is “Admin”with password
“1234”, which could and should be changed by system administrator.
