Grade 10 - Different Landforms

The document describes a learning plan for a science unit on different landforms and the processes involved in their formation. The plan includes exploring landforms and processes, having students apply their knowledge, and summarizing key points. Students will create materials to promote disaster preparedness for earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.

LEARNING PLAN

Subject Area/Level: SCIENCE 10 Date: NOVEMBER 6-10, 2023 Week No. 6

Unit Topic: DIFFERENT LANDFORMS & PROCESSES INVOLVED IN THEIR FORMATION
Quarter No. 2

Stage I – Desired Results

Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the structure of Earth and relationship among locations of
volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and mountain ranges.
Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to create an awareness campaign and develop a family disaster kit that will
help ensure disaster preparedness during earthquake, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.
Essential Understanding:
Earth is our home planet. It formed along with Venus and Mars about 4.5 billion years ago. It is extremely
special and unique because it is the only planet known to support life in our Solar System.
Essential Questions:
How would you describe the planet Earth? How should we prepare for disasters that include volcanic
eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis?
Learning Competencies:
The learners…
 describe the distribution of active volcanoes, earthquake epicenters and major
mountain belts.
Learning Target:
I can…
 identify and describe various landforms.
 understand the processes involved in the formation of different landforms.
Stage II – Evidence of Learning

The students will create materials that can promote and ensure disaster preparedness during earthquake,
tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.

Stage III – Learning Plan

A. Explore
Day 1
1. Begin with a brief discussion about what students already know about landforms.
2. Write their responses on the board.
3. Introduce the lesson objective: to learn about different landforms and the processes that shape
them.
Activity 1: Landform Identification
1. Display pictures or diagrams of various landforms (mountains, valleys, plains, plateaus, etc.) on
the board or through a multimedia presentation.
2. Discuss each landform, asking students to identify and describe them based on their visual
characteristics.
3. Encourage class participation by asking questions and facilitating a brief discussion for each
landform.

Day 2
Activity 2: Processes of Landform Formation
1. Introduce the key processes involved in landform formation: erosion, deposition, weathering, and
tectonic activity.
2. Discuss each process, providing examples and explaining how they contribute to the creation of
different landforms.
3. Use visual aids such as diagrams, video clips, or animations to enhance understanding.
4. Facilitate a class discussion on the significance of these processes in shaping the Earth's
surface.

Day 3
1. Present case studies of specific regions or landforms, detailing the processes that have
influenced their formation.
2. Discuss how human activities may impact these landforms and the importance of conservation
efforts.

B. FIRM UP
Day 4
1. Assign a worksheet or activity where students apply their knowledge of the Earth's internal
structure.
2. This could involve analyzing earthquake data, researching volcanic activity, or discussing the
impact of tectonic plate movement.
3. Provide guidance and support as students work on the activity.

C. DEEPEN
Day 5
1. Summarize the key points discussed during the lesson.
2. Conduct a brief review quiz or discussion to reinforce learning.
3. Assign homework or additional readings related to landforms for further exploration.
4. Evaluate student understanding through class participation, responses to questions, and
completion of the review quiz.
5. Review any homework assignments to gauge individual comprehension.
IV. ASSESSMENT
1. Formative
2. Summative
