Program Goals Specifically the Program aims to:
 encourage research and inquiry on the nature, causes, treatment or punishment of criminal behavior and how
criminal justice agencies function and response to crime, criminals and victims;
 prepare the student for career in crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime detection, correctional
administration, public safety and allied fields;
 foster the value of St. Vincent Ferrer in leadership, integrity, accountability and responsibility while serving the
church, fellowmen, community and country.
Program The BS Criminology are expected to become globally competent, innovative, and socially and ethically responsible
Educational professionals engaged in life-long learning undertakings. They are anticipated to engage in research, exhibit skills in crime
Objectives prevention, law enforcement, rehabilitation of offenders, public safety and ability to contribute on the country’s national
(PEO) development goals.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
After completing the BS Criminology Program the students can:

 Ensure offenders’ welfare and development for their re-integration.


 Internalize the concepts of human rights and victim welfare.
 Conduct criminological research on crimes and crime causation, victims, and offenders to include deviant behavior.
 Apply the principles and jurisprudence of criminal law, evidence and criminal procedure.
 Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino.
 Act in recognition of professional, social and ethical responsibility.
 Utilize criminalistics or forensic science in the investigation and detection of crime.
 Demonstrate competence and broad understanding of law enforcement, public safety, and criminal justice.



COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a two-unit course that deals with the proper conduct of a comprehensive review of all core courses and major courses for the BS-
Criminology program. And provide exact knowledge and heighten students understanding of the course topic for review in all six (6) general
areas (CLJ, LEA, CDI, FS, CRIMINOLOGY, and COR AD) and regulate an appropriate mock board examination for all criminology
students enrolled in the course.

NOTE: The student is also allowed to have a removal mock board exam once after the student failed in his/her first attempt. If the student
fails twice in the mock board examination he/she will be declared as failed in the course or will be given a chance to take another examination
subject at the discretion of the dean.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES


Upon completion of this course, the students can:
 recall, identify, and explain the terminologies, the concept of all theories, and important concepts of the specific topics in all
subjects covered in six (6) general areas of study in the BS-Criminology Program.
 Acquire techniques for answering questions with multiple choices.
 Exhibit compressive know-how in all of the six (6) areas of study in the B.S. Criminology Program.

(3 Days) MOCK BOARD EXAMINATION
(24 Hours) Description
- It is a three-day examination that consists of 600 items with multiple choices. The distribution of the
- Mock Board questions and percentage of each area is as follows:

- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the general concepts and basic principles of each of the six (6)
areas of study in the B.S. Criminology Program to be manifested in their General Average in the Mock Board
Examination.

- The examination will start from 07:45AM to 11:45AM in the morning of the first, second, and third day of
the examination, and will continue in the afternoon at 12:45PM to 04:45PM in the afternoon of the first,
second, and third day of the examination.

- This examination is exclusive only to fourth-year criminology students.

NOTE: The student is also allowed to have a removal mock board exam once after the student failed in his/her first
attempt. If the student fails twice in the mock board examination he/she will be declared as failed in the course or will be
given a chance to take another examination subject at the discretion of the dean.

Quizzes (Pre-Test and Post-Test)


To test students’ preparedness and comprehension, pre-test and post-test will be instituted before and after the start of the lecture and the
coordinator reserves the right to conduct per-subject evaluation with a specified date scheduled. Also, the type of quiz, evaluation, and mock
board examination is a multiple choice type. The pre-test weighs 30% in the grading system in the midterm and the post-test weighs 30% in
the grading system in the Final.

Major Examination (Evaluation per subject)


There are 6 Major Areas in the criminology program, and each area covers different subjects. The evaluation per subject will consist of 100-
item questions with multiple choices. The major examination weights 50% of the grading system in midterm.

Mock Board Examination


The Mock Board Examination is a three-day comprehensive examination. On the first day, the areas to be taken by the examinees are CLJ in
the morning with 100 items and weighs 20%, and CDI in the afternoon with 100 items and weighs 20% also. For the second day, the areas to
be taken are CRIMINOLOGY (Criminal Sociology) in the morning with 100 items weighing 20%, and LEA in the afternoon with 100 items
weighing 15%. On the third day, the areas to be taken by the examinees are FS in the morning with 100 items weighing 15%, and COR AD in
the afternoon with 100 items weighing 10%. (NOTE: Strict monitoring and supervision are highly implemented during the examination.
Examinees should come on time or maybe come early before the examination starts. Examinee/s who come late for 30 minutes and beyond
will not be permitted to take the examination on that day).

ATTENDANCE POLICIES
Strict monitoring of attendance during the days scheduled for lectures is highly implemented. Attendance will be checked four (4) times a day.
(In the morning, attendance will be checked before and after the lecture, and in the afternoon, attendance will be checked before and after the
lecture as well.) A student who is late for about 30 minutes will be considered absent but, is allowed to join the class. An equivalent of 3
absences will warrant an automatic “dropped” remarks. (NOTE: Attendance weighs 20% in the midterm and final grading system.)

COURSE POLICIES and OTHER CONCERNS

Missed Examination

Students will be expected to be present on every examination (evaluation) date. Only after the exam has been missed will there be a
negotiation for how to make up the exam. Why the exam was missed will be a chief consideration in this matter.

Come Prepared

Students should come early before the lecture proper will start. Students are encouraged to bring a notebook for note-taking. And the use of
cell phone is highly prohibited during the lecture. No food and drinks in the class. And follow the lecturer’s instructions/directions the first
time they are given.
The above schedule and procedures in this course are subject to change in the event of extenuating circumstances.

This syllabus is intended to be a guide or a target of what the instructor hopes to teach this semester.

This syllabus shall be enforceable and effective starting School Year 2023-2024 and beyond until due revisions are
made.
