What is the significance of identifying safety and security measures for the
jobs in the hospitality and tourism industry?
For me, it is for the safety of the guest because there is no one want to
check in or stay in a hotel that is not safe. It is the first thing that people
what to know if they what to relax and to enjoy the surroundings that they
feel safe. This is also to help the guest to prevent such crimes like identity
theft and crimes that might occur anytime in the area. This procedures
also protect the staff and they can also prevent some damages if they
know what to do in a situation that they need to resolve. The safety and
security in a hospitality and tourism industry is a vital because it can avoid
some accidents that might happen in the staff and guest.
List down the requirements for a safe workplace in the kitchen and
elaborate by your own words.
Do not run in the kitchen because it can cause accidents where you can
bump into someone and that someone might holding something hot that
can pour in your body. Always keep the floor dry because when the floor is
wet, you can slip on the floor and your head might hit in some shelves or
table in the area. For me the first aid is essential because just in case that
someone is hurt, it is easy to give first aid because the things that is
needed is already there. Kitchen knives must be put in the shelves after
used because it can prevent some unexpected incidents that we do not
want to happen. Always clean the kitchen after used because if the
kitchen is left behind dirty, the next person to use it might get unfortunate if
they step on in some ingredients in the floor that is not clean.
For me, it is important because it is the thing that can help to the chef or
some staff to know for them to prevent some unexpected accidents in the
future. It is also helpful to identify which things to prioritize when you are in
the kitchen. Creating checklist is a big help to be reminded of the task that
is needed to be done for the employees to reduce some mistakes or error
in the process. It is also important because it helps to the employees to
become organize to the things that they should do. For me, creating
checklist is a big help for me to feeling motivated to the things that I
needed to finish in time because I feel motivated to do the things that
needed to be done when I know what task is complete already and the
task that is not yet complete.
Part B
In your home, assign yourself on the household to head a specific area (e.g.,
kitchen, bathrooms, and living rooms). Create a checklist for yourself to ensure
the safety and security of your assigned area. Monitor how you are able to
comply with the checklist for a days. Prepare a report on your findings on the
checklists and your compliance. Identify areas in the checklists that need
refinement.
Kitchen Area Checklist:
Clean the area after used.
Always keep the floor dry.
Always closed the gas tank after used.
Remove the plug of the range hood after used.
I monitored that the things that I list in my check list for our kitchen is being
followed because this is my routine every day when I used the kitchen to
prepare or cooking of our food. I am happy to say that every time I used the
kitchen area, I don’t forget the things that I needed to do before I left in that
area. I also make sure that I didn’t forget some things that is important.
There’s nothing in kitchen areas in the checklist that is needed refinement
because it is the things that is needed to do in our kitchen to make in clean
and our house safe.
