2. What is an example of globalization initiatives affecting local governments?


- Countries have have to cooperate more as they have become increasingly integrated.
For instance, nations cooperate to fight terrorism or defend the environment. The
emergence of a global government is the result of this.

- Because it covers a number of worldwide sectors of governance, including security,
justice, human rights, development, trade, and finance, the system of global governance
has many facets.

2. How do international organizations take on “lives of their own?”


- Once established, they frequently take on lives of their own, stumbling ahead due to
inertia and the survival instinct of bureaucracy. They may appear to be of the highest
importance as a result. But they are frequently subverted by the interests of their
member states.

3. What are the challenges faced by the United Nations in maintaining global security
- Security and Peace Threats
Dangers from state-to-state violence as well as threats from environmental degradation,
sickness, and poverty (the threats to human security included in the Millennium
Development Goals). Violent threats and widespread breaches of human rights within
states. Terrorism-related dangers.

This lesson?

- First of all, I had a great time with the first quarter module learning all about
globalization and basically I’ve come to be enlightened more about Globalization. I
learned that the whole world-system is more than just international relations. Its is the
whole system of human interactions, which means, that there’s a lot to learn about the
world system and it’s function

2. How can you apply what you have learned to your current life as a student and to your future

Dream career?

- As a student, I may not be able to uphold the content of learning material because it
relates about economic progress with UN however when I have my future career, I will
always choose what’s beneficial for me with my continuous support of global
governance

3. What other things related to the lesson might you want more help with? Why?
- I want to understand more about the UN and it’s growing functions.

- In a broad sense, the terms Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania are referred to as
the “Global South.” It is a member of a family of phrases, which also includes “Third
World” and “Periphery,” that describe areas outside of Europe and North America that
are typically (but not always) low-income and frequently marginalized politically or
culturally.

2. Why does the global south resist globalization?


- Overall, the analysis has shown that globalization has been generally negative for most
nations in the Global South. This is mainly due to adherence to neoliberal economic
reasoning, which has been harmful to achieving and maintaining economic growth and
development.

3. What social movements help address the economic problems in Latin America?
- Considered to be at odds with nation-states that are situated in the northern
hemisphere Respect for human rights, free commerce, lower tariffs, and sustainable
development strategies Development.

- Asia’s security is being impacted by globalization in a multifaceted way. Economic

2. What were the changes in Asia brought about by globalization?


- New transnational risks – The growth of energy and environmental concerns, food and
water availability, migration, organized crime, and terrorism as significant security
concerns are all results of globalization. Responses to these issues must be multilateral
in order to be successful.

3. What caused the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990s?


- The 1997–98 Asian financial crisis began in Thailand and then quickly spread to
neighbouring economies. It began as a currency crisis when Bangkok unpegged the Thai
baht from the U.S. dollar, setting off a series of currency devaluations and massive
flights of capital.
