a. Assuming the base flow to be zero drive the ordinates of a 3-hr unit hydrograph?
b. By taking 2.5 cm excess rainfalls and 4m3/s base flow develop 6-hr hydrograph.
c. Drive the ordinates of a 6-hr and 9hr unit hydrograph?
2. The peak of flood hydrograph due to 6hr storm is 470m3/s. the mean depth of rainfall is 8cm.
Assume average infiltration and interception loss are 0.25cm and constant base flow of
15m3/sec. Estimate the peak discharge of a 6-hr unit hydrograph for this basin?
3. A certain watershed experienced 8.5cm heavy storm in a single day. The watershed is
covered by pasture with medium grazing, and 40% of B soil, 33% of C soil and 27% of D
soils; this event has been preceded by 5.5cm of rain fail in the last 4 days. Following the SCS
methodology determine the direct runoff for the 8.5cm rain fail event if the condition is wet.
4. Characteristics of two catchments M and N measured from a map are given below

For a 6-hr unit hydrograph in a catchment M, the peak discharge is 37h from the start of
rainfall excess and its value is 200m3/s. Assuming catchment M and N are metrologically
similar, determine the elements of 6hr synthetic unit hydrograph for catchment N by using
Snyder’s method.
5. A 3-hr unit hydrograph for a basin has the following ordinates. Using the S-curve method,
determine the 9-hr unit hydrograph ordinates.
