CORPORATE INTERNSHIP

6TH SEMESTER B.Com


INTRODUCTION
The students shall undergo 4 weeks of Internship programme in any business organization
(Tiny, Small, Medium or Large scale).

The Internship Programme is an integral part of the academic curriculum of B.COM. For the
successful completion of B.COM programme, students are required to undergo Internship
Programme as per the prescribed format and duration. Students are required to work with an
organization for hands-on experience during the semester gap of V and VI. The students may
carry their Internship at the organization located within the geographical boundary of
Karnataka/India.

OBJECTIVES

● To study various departments of the company

● To know the difficulties in the organization

● To know background of the company

● To understand nature of the business

● To study the ownership pattern followed in the company

● To understand in brief McKinsey’s 7S framework with reference to organization

● To study the SWOC of organization

● To analyse the financial statement

WHAT IS TO BE DONE?

● The student has to undertake Internship individually. Joint Internship are not allowed

in any case. Internship report is to be submitted by every individual student separately


● Internship involves working under the mentorship of an executive of the concerned

organization and also with a faculty member of the Institute where the student is
studying. The student is expected to understand the organization and its setting and
the industry/field in which the organization is operating

● Thereafter, the student should prepare a report and submit one copy to the

organization and one copy to the institute. The students should also obtain a certificate
from the

organization where the Internship was done and attach the same with the copy
submitted to the institute

● Institute will arrange the external Viva-Voce for Internship report. The student is

expected to make a 15-20 minute presentation before the examiner regarding the
Internship project work undertaken, which will be followed by questions by the
examiner

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION OF INTERNSHIP REPORT


The total marks for the Internship report will be 100 and it carries 3 credits. The marks will
be split into 60 marks for report and 40 marks for Viva-Voce. Evaluation of report and
conduct of Viva-Voce shall be at the institutional level.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

1. What is the duration of Internship report?


The duration of Internship is 4 weeks.
2. Is less than 4 weeks Internship allowed?
No, less than 4 week training is not allowed in any case in Internship. Such students
are not allowed in the Internship Viva-Voce evaluation.
3. Is joint project allowed in Internship?
No, joint project is not allowed.
4. Is it required to study functional departments of the organization/company?
Yes, it is compulsory for all the students to study functional departments of the
company/organization and put the details of the same in report.
5. What are the credits and marks allotted?
Internship carries 3 credits and 100 Marks.
6. What is the proportion of marks?
The proportion is 60:40. Out of 100 marks, the report carries 60 marks and Viva-Voce
carries 40 marks.
7. Is it required to attach a company certificate in the Internship report?
Yes, it is compulsory for all the students to attach company certificate in the project
report. The company certificate must consist the duration for which the student has
taken training in the organization. (Starting date and Ending date).
8. Is it required to attach institute certificate in the project report?
Yes, it is required for all the students to attach institute certificate in the project report.
The institute certificate must be signed by internal faculty and counter signed by
Principal of the institute.
9. How many copies of project report are required to submit?
It is compulsory for each student to bring one hard copy of project at the time of Viva.
For Institute, for company and for student. (3 copies).
