Lithium Battery Application Guide (Hybrid Use Scenario) : Panel and Ports
Lithium Battery Application Guide (Hybrid Use Scenario) : Panel and Ports
• The insulation layer of a cable may deteriorate or be damaged if the cable is used in a high-temperature environment. Keep
the cable at least 30 mm away from heat-generating components or heat sources.
• Do not route cables around the air intake vent and air exhaust vent of devices.
• Cables should meet the VW-1 flame-retardant requirements.
• Bind cables of the same type together. When routing cables of different types, ensure that they are at least 30 mm away
from each other.
• Ensure that all cables are securely bound. Route and bind cables so that they are neat and tidy and cable sheaths are intact.
• The bending radius of a cable must be at least five times the diameter of the cable.
• The figures provided in this document are for reference only.

2 Installing an ESM
• It is recommended that lithium batteries are from the same manufacturer, of the same model, and in the same batch.
• Comply with the regulations and warnings issued by lithium battery manufacturers.
• Before installing lithium batteries, ensure that the battery circuit breakers in the power system
are switched off or that the battery fuses are removed.
• When routing cables, reserve at least 30 mm clearance between the cables and heat-generating components or areas. This
prevents deterioration or damage to the cable insulation layer.
• Do not route cables behind the air intake and exhaust vents of the equipment.
• Ensure that cables of the same type are bound together neatly and straight and that the cable sheath is intact. When
routing cables of different types, ensure that they are at least 30 mm away from each other .
• The bending radius of a cable must be at least five times the diameter of the cable.
2
3 Installing ESM Cables
• When installing a power cable of the ESM, ensure that the protruding part of the OT
terminal on the cable faces outwards.
• After the ESM communications cables are installed, connect a termination (a component) to
the COM_OUT port of the last battery.
• Do not connect two or more cables to the positive or negative power port of the ESM in
parallel.
• A Huawei power system automatically identifies ESMs and sets battery parameters. There is
no need to set the parameters onsite. To check the ESM running status or change the charge
current limit coefficient, log in to the WebUI or LCD of the Huawei power system.
• The Huawei power system uses the monitoring module SMU02B/SMU02C/SMU06T2. The
software version for SMU02B/SMU02C must be SMU V500R002C00 or later, and that for
SMU06T2 must be iSitePower V100R02200SPC100 or later.
• If the ESM-48100B1 is used with the ESM-48100B5, enable the automatic hybrid use
function for the ESM-48100B1.

• Before switching on the circuit breakers or fuses of ESMs, press the MANUAL ON/OFF button on the front panel to activate all
ESMs.
• Log in to the Huawei technical support website to search for and download MaintenanceTool.tar.gz. Install Maintenance Tool
on your PC and use it to modify the charge current limiting coefficient and default charge current limiting coefficient. Choose
Lithium Battery n > Parameter Setting to set Charge Limit Coef and Default Charge Limit Coeft to 0.15C. Alternatively,
search for and download DP*Site.apk on the Huawei technical support website and install the Site app on your phone. Choose
Configuration Parameters > System Parameters to set Charge Current Limit(C) and Default Charge Limit Coeft(C) to
0.15C.
• After setting the current limit coefficient, press the MANUAL ON/OFF button on the front panel to shut down all ESMs.
• Set battery management parameters on the third-party power system monitoring module.
• If lead-acid batteries are used on the live network, set the float charge voltage to 53.5-54 V, and the boost charge voltage to
56.4 V. You are advised to set the total battery capacity based on the capacity of lead-acid batteries and set the charge current
limit coefficient to 0.15C.
• Switch on all ESM circuit breakers or fuses, activate ESMs, and check whether the ESMs work properly.
• In the current version, if Huawei intelligent lithium batteries are connected in parallel with third -party batteries, only the backup
capacity increases, and the backup power does not increase. When third-party batteries bear all load power of the site, ensure
that no overcurrent occurs.
• If there is a lead-acid battery string on the live network, connect it to a battery fuse. Connect the ESMs to a busbar and then
connect the cable to the other battery fuse.
