Abakpa Nike Bus Terminal Report
This bus terminal is the product of urban development, the corresponding design proposals
are drawn up based on the status of the city frequently.
Although the bus terminal can satisfy the basic function of the urban environment at the
present stage, appearance of bus terminal looks all in the same key, which not only do not
play the role of beautifying the city, but also leave passengers, cannot feel the feeling of
freshness. Solving the general decorative structural problems by space modeling and color
matching simply leads no breakthrough innovation, this ignores discussion of cultural heritage
and integrity. As a whole, the spiritual connotation of the bus station is not given, and the
cultural and artistic characteristics of the bus terminal cannot be taken into account. In
addition, urban residents have weak awareness of the public transport station, and their
participation in design opinions is low, resulting in the bus station is still unable to fully meet
the wishes of people, the damages of terminal are serious, design strategy for fast lane that
leads to the frequency of safety accidents increases. At this stage, although the bus station can
ensure the realization of basic functions, but new technologies and concepts are still lacking
in development.
ANAYLSIS AND DEMOSTRATION OF DESIGN PRINCIPLES OF THE
PROPOSED BUS TERMINAL
With the introduction of the integration of contemporary advanced technology and principle
of sustainable development. From the point of view of sustainable development, combined
with the basic principles and methods for design of bus terminal, the plans of bus terminal are
designed as design demonstration to find out the development trend of the future bus terminal.

SITE LAYOUT
Site layout refers to the detailed plan or arrangement of physical elements on a piece of land
or property. It involves the spatial organization of structures, amenities, landscaping, and
other features within a given site.
Planning the layout of roads, driveways, and pedestrian pathways to ensure efficient
circulation and connectivity within the site.
PARKING AREAS
Allocating space for parking facilities, including parking lots or garages, based on the
anticipated vehicular traffic.
Designing the placement of green spaces, gardens, and landscaping elements to enhance the
aesthetic appeal of the site and contribute to environmental sustainability.
Allocating space for utility infrastructure such as water supply, sewage systems, electrical
lines, and telecommunication networks.
ZONING COMPLIANCE
Ensuring that the site layout adheres to local zoning regulations and land use plans, including
setbacks, height restrictions, and other zoning requirements.
ACCESSIBILITY
Designing the layout to provide accessible pathways and facilities for people with disabilities,
ensuring inclusivity and compliance with accessibility standards
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
EMERGENCY ACCESS
Planning for emergency access routes and locations for emergency services, addressing safety
and regulatory requirements.
FACILITIES WITHIN PROPOSED ABAKPA NIKE BUS TERMINAL
1. MAIN TERMINAL DESIGN
This design include the following namely;
Eatery area for travellers
Ticketing area
Waiting area
Shopping mall to buy different variant of goods ( cloth, provision etc)
Luggage store
Offices
Cinema and convenience for workers

ANALYZING EACH FACILITIES OF THE DESIGN FOR MAXIMUM
COMFORTABILITY
1. MAIN TERMINAL
This consists of 80 seating capacity of eating area within the eatery space.
8 toilet cubicle at the ground floor and 6 at the suspended floor for public usage with 12
urinals facilities. Adequate waiting area space for passengers, cinema and mall facilities.
REMARKS
Basically, for the users’ conveniences, the available toilet within the main terminal is not
adequate for all. Certain numbers of toilets are built within the bus station.
2. MOTEL
This consists of 40rooms all in suite with a large kitchen space. The motel covered 1500sqmt
of the site area with its parking facilities. This is specially designed to accommodate travellers
and serves as other relaxation purposes with good hospitality.
It is easily accessible close from the main entrance gate, and the movement of buses and
vehicles within the bus terminal isn’t beyond the parking lots and access road as shown in the
layout design. Fabricated steel barricade is used to restrict movement of buses turning within
the terminal parking lots

3. THE CNG & FILLING STATION
CNG (Central Natural Gas station) and Filling station is another supporting facilities within
the proposed bus terminal design, which served to provide natural gas and petrochemical
support for buses coming into and within the locality.
Different size provision is considered in the design for different size of buses with varies
height. The fuel canopies has adequate height of about 6metre to accommodate big vehicle

4. PARKING LOTS
There are 168 parking lots designed for the parking facilities of buses to minimized traffic
congestion around the area.
5. SHOPS
120 numbers of shops design in the terminal because people coming into the bus terminal
could easily access urgent goods and services without moving far away from their buses.
6. TOILET WITH URINAL FACILITIES
Through the design demonstration, it is found that the bus terminal design details are
integrated into people's lifestyle, which is popular for most people. In addition, making full
use of energy conversion can not only protect the ecological environment, but also provide
references for the design of bus terminal. Following conclusion are drawn by analyzing the
environment impact of the bus terminal design. Nowadays, the bus terminal design cannot
fully meet the sustainable development; few breakthrough and innovation are provided.
Through analysis and prediction, it is found that the bus terminal and the public facilities are
classified and integrated to achieve more rational resource optimization and utilization based
on different needs of different cities in the design of the future bus terminal. This shows that
the bus terminal can reduce the waste of resources and meet the humanization design with
integration of social networking tools, information consulting and other daily facilities besides
existing functionality.
Therefore, the innovation and breakthrough of the bus terminal can not only be built on the
city overall planning design concept and comprehensive system of government, but also need
more people to strengthen the sense of ownership and protection and participate in the
collection of opinions of the bus terminal design.
