INTRODUCTION
ABOUT THE PROJECT
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Community service is unpaid work performed by a person or group of people for

the benefit and betterment of their community without any form of compensation.
Community service can be distinct from volunteering, since it is not always
performed on a voluntary basis and may be compulsory. Although personal
benefits may be realized, it may be performed for a variety of reasons including
citizenship requirements, a substitution of criminal justice sanctions,
requirements of a school or class, and requisites for the receipt of certain benefits.
Community service also allows those participating to reflect on the difference
they are making in society. Some participants of a community service project
may find themselves gaining a greater understanding of their roles in the
community, as well as the impact of their contributions towards those in need of
service. Because community service outlets vary, those who serve are exposed to
many different kinds of people, environments, and situations.
Service-learning courses vary widely in time span, quality, and in the balance of
"service" and "learning" stressed in the course. A typical service-learning course,
however, has these factors in common:
 A service component where the student spends time serving in the
community meeting actual needs
 A learning component where students seek out or are taught information—
often both interpersonal and academic—that they integrate into their
service
 A reflection component that ties service and learning together

My community service is on online purchase I have done survey regarding

the online purchase, in my area that is ram nagar area. As my survey is on
online purchase I went to 40 houses to conduct survey program in my area
and I got many different responses in the survey.

Volunteering or community service provides you with a perfect opportunity

to become closer to the community you live in. Community service broadens
your horizons by helping you understand the needs of the society and the
population you are trying to help through the project you are volunteering
on.
Community service is one of the best ways to help benefit the public or give
back to your community. It does not only have positive effects on society, but
it will bring benefits to your life and personal development. Why is
community service important? If you have ever asked yourself this question,
let’s consider some of the possible reasons.

Community Service Helps Connect to the Community:

My topic in the community service is online purchase. It is part of my
community service, I have done many things like survey on online
purchase many awareness programs, and observing days. We can make
work by many ways that is like physical and theoretical, where in this,
there is theoretical frame work of the community service and this is my
study.

Orientation program: Where in the beginning we had orientation

programming the community service, they gave many topics according to
the groups. In orientation program they gave the brief information about the
community service.

Topic: After the orientation program, in the given topics we made choice on
the topics, and later I selected topic in the community service that is
employment in different sections. I have selected the topic online purchase
because most of the people are addicted to online purchase. So, I decided to
take that topic in my community service.

Survey: I did survey regarding community service that is on online

purchase. I made a questionnaire according to the selected topic, and I
visited 40 houses for the survey. A survey is a research method used for
collecting data from a predefined group of respondents to gain information
and insights into various topics of interest. They can have multiple purposes,
and researchers can conduct it in many ways depending on the methodology
chosen and the study's goal.

Activities done: In part of community service, we did many activities like

anti-tobacco day, environmental day, yoga day and music day, blood
donation day, beach cleaning, statue cleaning, plantation, campus cleaning,
giving food to poor, visiting old age home and survey.

Community Service Rises Social Awareness:

How does volunteering benefit the community? Volunteering or community
service provides you with a perfect opportunity to become closer to the
community you live in. Community service broadens your horizons by
helping you understand the needs of the society and the population you are
trying to help through the project you are volunteering on. Reading or
hearing about issues is not quite the same as getting personally involved.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The main aim and objective of community service is to bring adjustment between
the resources available and felt needs of the people. Special objectives of
community organization are following:

1. To get information about the resources and needs

2. To arouse the people to work for the welfare of the community
3. To create a sense of cooperation integration and unity among the people
4. To motivate the people to take better participation in the developing
community program
5. To implement programs required for the fulfillment of people basic needs
6. To develop better understanding among the people about the issues and
needs.
7. To mobilize the resources to create a suitable ground for the basic needs
completion and eradication of problems.
8. To organize the people for the promotion and progress of community.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

Community service plays a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of society by
addressing various social, environmental, and cultural needs. Its scope is wide-
ranging and encompasses a diverse array of activities aimed at positively
impacting communities and the individuals within them.

One key aspect of community service involves providing social services to

vulnerable populations. This can include volunteering at shelters for the
homeless, assisting elderly individuals with daily tasks, supporting children in
need through mentoring and tutoring programs, or working with individuals with
disabilities to improve their quality of life.

Environmental initiatives are another vital aspect of community service.

Volunteers engage in activities such as organizing clean-up drives, promoting
sustainable practices, participating in tree-planting campaigns, and raising
awareness about environmental conservation.

Education and mentorship are also prominent components of community service.

Volunteers contribute by offering tutoring services, organizing after-school
programs, providing career guidance, and facilitating workshops to empower
individuals with knowledge and skills.
Health and wellness-related community service initiatives involve conducting
blood donation drives, organizing health screenings, promoting healthy habits,
and creating awareness about public health issues.

Community service also encompasses efforts to preserve and promote cultural

heritage. Volunteers may organize cultural events, art exhibitions, or workshops
to celebrate diversity and foster understanding among different communities.

In times of crisis or natural disasters, community service extends to disaster relief

and emergency response. Volunteers play a vital role in providing immediate
assistance to affected communities, distributing essential supplies, and offering
emotional support.

Support for nonprofit organizations is another essential aspect of community

service. Volunteers contribute their time and skills to assist these organizations in
administrative tasks, fundraising efforts, and event management.

In conclusion, the scope of community service is multifaceted, spanning various

domains to address the diverse needs of communities. Whether it involves
supporting vulnerable individuals, preserving the environment, promoting
education, fostering cultural understanding, responding to emergencies,
advocating for social issues, or assisting nonprofit organizations, community
service remains a powerful tool for creating positive change and building a
stronger, more compassionate society.

DESCRIPTION OF THE
ACTIVITIES
SURVEY:
Survey means an activity in which many people are asked a question or a series
of questions in order to gather information about what most people do or think
about something: poll. Survey is also meant as an act of studying something in
order to make a judgment about it. It is an act of measuring and examining an
area of land. It is a general description of a report about subject or a situation.
I have chosen topic for survey that is online purchase. I prepared some
general questions where it’s a type of personal information and I prepared
few questions on online purchase. I visited 40 houses and each of them
responded positively. I collected information about them and visited few
houses to know about which apps they are using. I gave them some tips and
suggestions on my topic.
AWARENESS PROGRAM: In part of community service, we made many
awareness programs like Anti tobacco day, environmental day ,yoga day and
music day swatch Bharat in college, statue cleaning, green plantation, Beach
cleaning.

OBSERVING DAYS: In observing days, I observed that in survey all the

response is completely different but as I conducted the complete survey in
one area so few were facing problems with the delivery of the product and
were having complaints about the damaged products which they were
receiving.

ANTI TOBACCO DAY: World No Tobacco Day is observed around the world
every year on 31 May. The annual observance informs the public on the dangers
of using tobacco, the business practices of tobacco companies, what the World
Health Organization (WHO) is doing to fight against the use of tobacco, and what
people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living
and to protect future generations.
The day is further intended to draw attention to the widespread prevalence of
tobacco use and to negative health effects, which currently lead to more than
8 million deaths each year worldwide, including 1.2 million as the result of non-
smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.
WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY: World Environment is celebrated on 5th
June every year. People from more than 100 countries celebrate this day.
Furthermore, the world environment day is run by the United Nations Environment
Program (UNEP). Since 1973 all the main purpose of celebrating this day was to
spread awareness. The awareness was about the conservation of our environment.
Since we all know that Global warming is the root cause of the ruin of our
environment. Therefore it is our duty to protect our environment. And stop all the
exploitation that is destroying it. Because in the end, it is our basic need for our
survival and our generations ahead.

YOGA DAY: The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated across the
world annually on June 21 since 2015, following its inception in the United
Nations General Assembly in 2014.Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual
practice which originated in ancient India. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra
Modi, in his UN address in 2014, had suggested the date of June 21, as it is
the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special
significance in many parts of the world.
MUSIC DAY: World Music Day was organized by Jack Lang in 1982, who was
then French Culture Minister, and Maurice Fleuret, Director of Music and Dance
at the French Ministry of Culture. Together, the two started Fête de la Musique
(festival of music) on the streets of Paris. The idea behind this celebration was to
gather both amateur and professional musicians on the streets to celebrate the
beauty of music. Later on, other nations also adopted this practice of street
concerts to celebrate music.
BEACH CLEANING:
Beach cleaning or clean-up is the process of removing solid litter, dense
chemicals, and organic debris deposited on a beach or coastline by the tide,
local visitors, or tourists. Humans pollute beaches with materials such as
plastic bottles and bags, plastic straws, fishing gear, cigarette filters, six pack
rings, surgical mask and many other items often lead to environmental
degradation. Every year hundreds and thousands of volunteer’s comb
beaches and coastlines around the world to clean this debris. This material is
also called “marine debris” or "marine pollution" and their quantity have
been increasing due to anthropocentric activities.

CAMPUS CLEANING:
The volunteers cleaned the entire campus wearing gloves and collected all
the litter in big bags for disposal. The volunteers were instructed to clean
their hands with soap at the end. Refreshments were distributed to
volunteers.
We thank the Management, Staffs and Students for giving their valuable
support to make the service activity a grand success.

GREEN PLANTATION:
Tree Plantation is important because it provides fresh fruits, vegetables,
nuts and other foods for the survival of life on earth. They are the producers
and the source of food energy for all living things to survive, as they are at
the bottom of the food chain.

GIVING FOOD TO POOR : We should all provide food to the poor. So

many families die every day of starvation while we waste our food. Everyone
needs food, otherwise how are we meant to survive? If we don’t have food to
keep us moving and staying healthy it’s not possible to work and make a
living for ourselves and our families. Everyone should have the right to live a
healthy life especially when there are tones of food being wasted every year.
Thousands of people are dying because of hunger. People become less
productive and able to work without food, we need to help them out. No one
deserves to go through the pain of starvation, that’s why we should all
provide food for the poor 6. All human beings need food to survive and there
are so many people who waste their food every day. Food is one of the main
things needed in life and some people are going without it.

VISITING AN OLD AGE HOME:

I visited an old age home and gave them snacks to eat. I spent some time with
them and had a healthy conversation. They felt happy and even gave me their
blessings.

STATUE CLEANING:
Statues are history on stones. Whenever we get to see different statues, we
remember different stories of achievement, service and sacrifice. This is the right
method to keep passing on stories to next generations permanently. But
nowadays, poor maintenance of statues has become a hurdle.
We chose a statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Visakhapatnam R K
Beach. I was sad to see the statue in quite bad condition. With the help of
community people, first, we removed all the wastes dumped at the base of
the statue and on the platform. Then, the whole statue was cleansed with
water. And then the statue was painted to cover the scratches. Now the
statue regained its rich look. I was very glad to be a part of this statue
cleaning activity.

BLOOD DONATION DAY:

BLOOD DONATION DAY: Blood donation is definitely a noble act. Many
clinics and hospitals constantly require blood for several purposes. This
makes the idea of blood donation a noble gesture as it provides life-saving
help to people and patients. On an average, human body contains
approximately 4 to 5 liters blood that can be donated after every third
month for men and every 4 months for women. Many people believe that
blood donation is harmful for their body, however, this is untrue.

We cannot deny the fact that blood donation is a good act. It is not merely safe
but also has several advantages:

 Life-saver – Many people require urgent blood and by donating our blood
we easily give them life. This is one of the biggest satisfactions one can
experience. It makes us proud and can also give us a purpose of life – the
feeling that you made a difference to someone’s life.
 Refreshes our system– Having donated blood, our cell count goes down
which leads to new cells regeneration. This is definitely a healthy process
that defines that an individual is fine and fit. Our entire body freshens up
and many of our health issues come to an end. Therefore, blood donation
results in a healthier body that raises our life span.

WEEKLY REPORT
WEEK – 4 (From Date: 11|6|23 to Date: 16|6|23)
Objective of the Activity Done: Beach cleaning, statue cleaning, awareness
program, plantation, campus cleaning, giving food.
Detailed Report:

As today’s activity is beach cleaning, cleaning tourist places would help to

maintain the nature and aquatic life neat and healthy. As we know these days
most of them are not at all paying attention towards nature and throwing all the
scrap here and there.
If more trees are planted, then the world's environment will become a safer place
to live in. Watered the plants in my house which were already there and my
mom told the importance of plants .
Statue cleaning plays an important role for the beauty of that particular area or
city. So I along with my friends went to R.K beach and started cleaning with the
help of cloth and water to make it look clean.
Every year, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day .So
I and my friends decided to give an awareness to people about blood donation
and told that how blood is important to save one’s life.
Giving food to beggars gives us self satisfaction and makes us happy. So I have
decided to spend some of my pocket money and buy biscuit packets and buns to
to give to them. I was really happy at the end of the day and I pray that those
people can get at least 1 meal a day without starving.
The last of this week’s activity is campus cleaning. After the completion of all
my regular classes my friends and I decided to go at the back door of our college
to do this activity. We picked up all the trash in a plastic cover and dumped all
the waste in the dustbins.
WEEKLY REPORT
WEEK – 5 (From Date: 17|6|23 to Date: 22|6|23)
Objective of the Activity Done: Plantation, providing food, awareness program,
campus cleaning.
Detailed Report:

The very first activity of this week is plantation. After my college hours I have
decided to go to my apartment cellar and cleaned the area where I wanted to
plant the seeds which I bought. After cleaning I started putting the seeds of rose
in a pot and then watered it.
This is the last day to distribute food to the beggars. I took few biscuit packets
to give it to them. They were really happy to see me helping them. Valuable
blessings were given to me by them.
Did campus cleaning in my college after my classes were completed. Since my
campus pretty messy I thought of cleaning it with the help of my friends. After
doing this activity I saw a huge difference from what it was before.
Campus cleaning plays an important role for the beauty of an institution. So I
thought of picking up all the trash which was thrown on ground like papers,
cans, chocolate wrappers and may more things. I have collected all the trash in
a plastic cover and dumped it in the dustbin.
Created awareness on yoga day and told people that how yoga is important of
one’s body to make it fit and keep it active throughout the day. Practicing few
asana can make you stay fit and live longer.
The Day of Music is a special festival dedicated to the joy of music. People
come together to enjoy melodies, songs and rhythms and express their love for
this universal language of harmony. So I gave some awareness to people on
music day.
The last activity of this week and this project was campus cleaning. So on the
last day of this activity I decided to clean the campus and to make it look tidy.

CHAPTER 5:
OUTCOMES
DESCRIPTION
Details of the Socio-Economic Survey of the Village/Habitation.
A socioeconomic survey is a comprehensive study designed to collect data and,

information on the social and economic conditions of a particular area or

community. The survey is usually conducted by government agencies, research

institutions, or nongovernmental organizations to assess the standard of living,

employment patterns, educational attainment, health facilities, infrastructure,

and other relevant factors of a region.

Some common aspects that a socioeconomic survey may cover are:

Demographics: Information on population size, age distribution, sex ratio, ethnic

composition, and migration patterns.
Education: Data on literacy rates, school enrollment, educational attainment, dropout
rates, and access to educational institutions.
Employment and Income: Information on employment status, types of occupations,
income levels, and unemployment rates.
Health care: Availability and accessibility of health care facilities, immunization
rates, maternal and infant mortality rates, and prevalence of disease.
Housing and infrastructure: details on housing types, access to basic amenities such as
water, electricity, sanitation, and transportation.
Agriculture and livelihood: if applicable, details on agricultural practices, sources of
livelihood, and agricultural productivity.
Socio-cultural factors: data on social customs, traditions, languages spoken, and
community cohesion.
The results of a socioeconomic survey can be used to identify community needs

and priorities and to inform policymakers in the development of targeted

policies and strategies.

If a socioeconomic survey was conducted in Ram Nagar, Visakhapatnam after my

last update, you can view the latest data and reports from government sources,
research institutions, or local agencies.
Describe the problems you have identified in the
community
As we know every ward in a state might have a problems which are
general problems and those might be cleared if there is a proper
solution given in the community. I observed most of the common
problems in my area.
Example like; throwing waste on roads and having some transportation
problem and water pollution and its low availability in our area,
inadequate access to basic services such as health care, and sanitation.
Additionally Environmental issues are rising more because of more
pollution and other Crises. Most of them complained about water and
its availability and the second complaint is on garbage dumping on
roads and traffic being caused at the school times in our area. These
problems arises when there is no proper knowledge about it and most
of them say that don’t know solutions for general things because they
might be illiterate or some might be listening to other words and
neglecting the better ways or works. By creating awareness about the
topics and giving them perfect information can make these problems
clear and make the ward people to not have that much of
disturbances and clean and healthy environment can be acquired.

the area struggles with erratic water supply and limited access to
clean drinking water, leading to waterborne diseases and sanitation

problems. Poorly maintained roads and inadequate public residents

transportation cause traffic congestion and inconvenience for residents.
Short-term and long term action plan for possible solutions
for the problems identified and that could be recommended
to the concerned authorities for implementation.

SHORT TERM SOLUTIONS:-

Conduct public awareness campaigns to educate residents about the harmful
effects of littering and the importance of responsible waste disposal.
Place additional trash cans and recycling facilities in strategic locations so people
can properly dispose of their trash.
Enforce strict penalties and fines for littering and implement visible monitoring
measures to discourage individuals from throwing litter in streets and public
places.
SOLUTION FOR ELECTRICITY PROBLEM:-
Immediately perform maintenance and repair work on the electrical infrastructure
to correct existing problems and prevent further power outages.
LONG TERM SOLUTIONS:-
SOLUTION FOR WATER PROBLEM:-
Invest in sustainable water infrastructure projects, such as building new reservoirs,
water treatment plants, and implementing efficient water distribution systems.
Promote water conservation and education programs to bring about long-term
behavioral changes in water use patterns among residents and businesses.

Implement comprehensive water management strategies, including watershed

protection, rainwater harvesting, and groundwater recharge, to ensure a stable and
reliable water supply for future generations.
SOLUTION FOR TRANSPORTATION PROBLEM:-

commerce platforms or trusted online retailers. Avoid unknown websites
with questionable reviews or limited information.
2) Secure your devices: Make sure your computer, smartphone, or tablet has
up-to-date antivirus software and a firewall. Use strong, unique passwords
for your online accounts and enable two-factor authentication whenever
possible.
3) Make sure your connections are secure: Before entering personal or
payment information, make sure the site has a secure connection. Look for
"https://" in the URL and a padlock icon in the browser address bar.
4) Compare prices: Take advantage of the extensive capabilities of the
Internet by comparing prices for the same product at different retailers. This
way you can find the best deals and save money.
5) Pay attention to the return policy: Find out about the seller's return and
refund policy before you buy. Make sure that you can return or exchange
the product if it does not meet your expectations.

CONCLUSION
Technology has made significant progress over the years to provide consumers a
better online shopping experience and will continue to do so for years to come.
With the rapid growth of products and brands, people have speculated that online
shopping will overtake in-store shopping. While this has been the case in some
areas, there is still demand for brick and mortar stores in market areas where the
consumer feels more comfortable seeing and touching the product being bought.
However, the availability of online shopping has produced a more educated
consumer that can shop around with relative ease without having to spend a large
amount of time. In exchange, online shopping has opened up doors to many small
retailers that would never be in business if they had to incur the high cost of
owning a brick and mortar store. At the end, it has been a win-win situation for
both consumer and sellers.

In summary, online shopping has become an integral part of modern life. It has
revolutionized the way we store, offering unparalleled convenience and access to
a vast array of products and services. The rapid growth of e-commerce has
opened up new opportunities for businesses and consumers alike by enabling
seamless transactions and global connectivity. While challenges such as security
and environmental impact persist, continued advances in technology and
responsible practices can lead to a more sustainable and rewarding online
shopping experience. As we move into the future, it will be critical to strike a
balance between the benefits of online shopping and overcoming its challenges to
shape a future where e-commerce continues to enhance our lives while ensuring a
secure and thriving digital marketplace.
