3. A manufacturer of a certain product has two stores at Kigoma and Mtwara. He wants to transport goods to
two towns Singida and Moshi. He needs 60 tones and 40 tones of goods at Singida and Moshi respectively.
Kigoma store contains 80 tones and 60 tones at Mtwara store. The transportation cost per tone of goods are
as shown in the table below:-

4. Below is a frequency distribution table showing the lifetimes of 400 radio tubes tested at J & L Tube
company.

5. (a) Define the following terms:-

(b) Prove that A∩( B∪C )=( A∩B )∪( A∩C ) (02 marks)

(c) Use the laws of algebra of sets to simplify A'∩( B∪ A ) (02 marks)

(b) In a recent pool of 500 men and 500 women; it was observed that a total of 650 were married. Of those
married, 275 were men and 500 claimed to be happy. Out of 750 claimed to be happy, 400 were men of
which 200 were married. Represent this information on the Venn-diagram and find:-
(i) the number of married people who are happy.
(ii) The number of unmarried people who are not happy. (04 marks)

6. (a) (i) The function f and g are defined as f ( x )=¿ {x for x<0¿¿¿¿
