COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course examines the fundamentals, practical, managerial approach


to marketing. It gives the students a comprehensive, innovative,
managerial and practical introduction to marketing.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students should be able:

1. To apply the concept of marketing, component marketing mix


and principles of marketing.
2. To perform information management skills through group project in
promoting products and services.
3. To demonstrate entrepreneurial skills through group assignment.

BUSINESS IDEA POSTER
(25% MARKS)
GROUP TASK DESCRIPTION

Form a group consisting of 6-7 students, including an advisor who will


provide guidance throughout the assignment. Your group is tasked with
creating an idea for a new product. You have the flexibility to either
improvise on an existing product or develop an entirely new concept.
Your business idea can originate from industries such as food and
beverages, education, fashion, cosmetics, etc. The objective of this
assignment is to foster creativity, deepen your understanding of product
development principles, and enhance your ability to communicate ideas
effectively.

POSTER SPECIFICATIONS

Students are required to create a digital poster in A1 size. Physical


printing of posters is not necessary; only soft copies will be accepted. The
poster must prominently display the following information:

(a) Student's Name and Advisor


(b) University logo, Faculty name and Institution Name
(c) Business Idea Title (Catchy title representing the business idea)

POSTER CONTENT GUIDELINES

The poster should comprehensively cover the following aspects:

1. Introduction
a. Brief overview of the business idea.
b. Explanation of the problem or need the business aims to address.

2. Target customers
a. Description of the specific demographic or market segment the
business will serve.
b. Explanation of why this audience is the target market.

3. Product or Service Description


a. Detailed description of the product or service offered.
b. Unique selling features that differentiate from competitors.
4. Marketing strategy to be used
Overview of how the business plans to promote and advertise its
offerings.

5. Visual illustration
Incorporate images or illustrations to showcase the product or service
concept. This could include photographs of prototypes, conceptual
drawings, or digital renderings that help convey the unique features and
benefits of the offering.

BUSINESS IDEA POSTER VIDEO


PRESENTATION
(15% MARKS)
GROUP TASK DESCRIPTION

Each group needs to develop a video based on the product presented in


business idea poster. The video should include the following elements:

1. The video should have a duration between 10 to 15 minutes.


2. All group members must appear in the video.
3. The visually illustrated product must be showcased in the video.
4. Any inappropriate content, such as violence, is prohibited.
5. The content must be in English.

VIDEO CONTENT

The video should include:

1. Introduction

a. Briefly introduce each group member and the class.


b. Provide a brief overview of the business idea.
c. Clearly explain the problem that the business aims to address, and
highlight how your product or service could solve this problem.

2. Explanation of the business idea

a. Target Customers
 Describe the specific demographic or market segment that
the business will serve.
 Use real-life examples to illustrate how the target customers
will benefit from the business offering.

b. Product or Service Description


 Present a detailed description of the product or service
offered, highlighting its key features and benefits.
 Showcase the unique selling points that differentiate the
offering from competitors.
 Use visuals such as product animations to provide a clear
understanding of the product/service concept. Ensure that
the visual elements effectively complement the verbal
explanations and enhance the audience's understanding.

c. Marketing Strategy
 Provide an overview of the marketing strategy, outlining
how the business plans to promote and advertise its
offerings.
 Describe any partnerships or collaborations that will support
the marketing efforts and enhance brand visibility.

3. Conclusion

a. Summarize the key points covered in the presentation,


emphasizing the business idea's potential.
b. Express gratitude for the audience's time and attention.
