Paper 2

Practical

2 hour 30 minutes

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

This paper consists of two examination items.

Answer both items in this paper.

You are provided with support files in the folder Support Files on the computer
desktop. Use the support files where applicable to supplement the items.

You are provided with a new blank Compact Disc (CD).

Use a permanent marker to write your name, random number and personal number
on your CD.

You should continuously save your work.

You must produce a hard copy for each of your work to accompany a soft copy on
the Compact Disc (CD).

Item 1

Your father has been given a job as the new Director of Studies (DOS) of Kikuube
Modern P/S located in Kikuube District. He has encountered a major challenge about
the manual report card system where teachers manually make report cards with their
hands of which the exercise takes around two weeks to end. With this system the
teachers have a lot of errors they make during computation of results and the filling in
marks in the report card. This leads to tearing of a lot of report cards where mistakes
have been made hence wasting school resources and time.

On the report card the school has a policy of indicating bursary schemes depending on
students performance as; Students whose total is below is below 200 are not given
bursary, Students whose total is between 340 and 200 are given half bursary and
students whose total is above 340 are given full bursary.

The school also has a policy of indicating promotion status for the P6 students to be
promoted to P7 after meeting a certain mark as; Students whose average is above 50
are promoted to P7 and students whose average is below 50 are to repeat P6.

Your father would love your help to have a computerised reporting system to quicken
report making process and have a nice looking report card with student photos,
Subject marks, Subject Grade, Subject comment, Total, Average, Class Teacher’s
comment and Head Teacher’s comment all being automatically generated.

Your father has drafted how the report will look like (Template) in the support file
REPORT CARDS.docx and he has also captured the marks in a spreadsheet system
KIKUUBE MODERN PS P6 MARKS EOT 3 2023.xls. He has also put students
pass port photos in STUDENT PASSPORT PHOTOS Folder

Task

Help your father by using support files provided

(a) Compute the marks and necessary data in the spread sheet system
(b) Join data in the Spreadsheet system data with that of the report card file to
generate automatic report cards for all students.

Hint

 Create your own scale and comments for generating Class Teacher and
Head Teacher comments.
 Photos have been named basing on student No of each child
 The grading scale for subject marks has been indicated on the report card in
the support files.

Item 2

A wildlife Club wishes to start a campaign of saving wild animals that run out of there
habitants from being killed by humans. The club would wish the public to photograph
such animals and submit photos plus personal details of the volunteer to the club
online platform so as the club members come and rescue the wild animals. The club
also wishes to have other pages bearing Homepage, benefits of conserving wild life,
endangered animals gallery and a page of address of club branches across Uganda.

Task.

Develop an online platform having necessary club pages and active form for
submitting the photos of animals that have escaped. A support file named endangered
animals has been provided containing some files which may be used.
