TechM Cricket Tournament 2018 Rules v2

Teams
 Nine Teams confirmed in the tournament
 Each team will consist of eight players (You may bring a squad of up to
twenty players).
 Each team will have a substitute player.
 Substitute can bat, bowl and/or field. However in an innings only 8 players
can bat/bowl at a time. Which means one player will be taking rest in all
departments(bat/bowl/field)

Game Rules:
 Matches will be played with medium hard tennis ball.
 Overs per each innings will be
o Leagues – 12 overs
o Playoffs – 15 overs
o Final – 15 overs
 International Cricket Council rules will be followed. The umpires will be
given standard rules regarding wide balls, boundaries, no-balls and other
rules. Only exception are LBW out and Leg-bye runs. Which are not
considered.
 Run out or Stumping on a leg bye is not out. For example: if the ball hits
the batsman’s body and if the fielder/keeper hits the stump it is not out.
 There will be 9 teams in this tournament
 Each team will play with the other team. So each team will play 8 games
in league stage.
 The top four teams will play in the playoffs.
 Playoffs and final will be as below.
Qualifier1 Ranking 1 Vs Ranking 2
Eleminator1 Ranking 3 Vs Ranking 4
Qualifier2 Qualifier1 Loser Vs Eleminator1 Winner
Final Qualifier1 Winner Vs Qualifier2 Winner

Specific rules:
 All the teams should give the waiver form before starting of the matches
with all the team members signed. If any player is not signed, then its
captains responsibility for any liability.
 No power play overs.
 Its recommend for all batsman to wear abdominal guard.
 Each team has to bring their own cricket gear (bat, guard etc.).
 Only balls and wickets will be provided by the organizing committee.
 Each team has to bring their own drinks. No drinks are provided by
organizing committee.
 By runners are not allowed just for fun.
 By runners are only allowed if the batsman is injured and it has to be
approved by the Umpire and opposition captain.
 If ball hits the tree and doesn’t go to boundary, batsman need to take runs.
It will be considered as a bounce if ball hits tree and stays inside boundary.
 If the ball hits the tree and catches, it’s not out. Umpire will take call
whether it hit the tree or not before catching.
 If ball hits tree and goes to boundary on bounce then it will be considered
as a boundary. If ball stuck in tree it’s declared as 1 run.
 If ball hits tree and goes to boundary without bounce (directly) will be
considered as six runs.
 In case ball is not visible or lost, max 2 runs will be granted by umpire.
 In case of rain and ball is stuck in mud and difficult to collect ball, 2 runs
will be granted.
 If the ball goes behind the line back to keeper, there is no granted runs.
Batsman has to run. Maximum of only one run can be run. If batsman run
more than one run, still it will be given only one run. If batsman gets
runout during first run, it’s out. During the first run, if there is a overthrow
then its legal. If fielder tries to runout batsman during 2nd run (as it’s not
legal), it’s not out. During 2nd run, no overthrow is entertained.
 If the ball crosses boundary behind the wicket (except on the road) it’s a
boundary. In case of road, its only one run.
 Batsman need to run unless umpire signals for the declared runs during
lost/mud scenarios.
 There is no declared runs in case of over throw.
 In case of Tie, Super Over will be played.
 A match will start only if both teams have minimum of 5 players. If not
sufficient players on one team, other team will be declared as winner.
 Both teams playing match should report the ground by 15mins in advance.
 Captain/Vice-captain should attend for toss.
 If a team comes late to the match, other team will be awarded as the
winner. Or opposite team agrees to play a match, there will be reduction in
overs for both teams based on the time delayed.
 During rain times, matches will be rescheduled to later point of time.
 Umpire’s decision is final.
 Only Captain/Vice-Captain can talk politely to Umpire if needed. Other
team members are not allowed to discuss with umpire.
 Intolerable behaviour by players towards Umpires and Opposition
players will be reported and may end up in suspension.
 Each Team is responsible for cleaning their trash.
 Every Team has to bring their drinks.
 There will be 10mins break between each innings.
 Super Over rules at the end of the page.
 If match is stopped due to rain in the first innings, rematch will happen.
 If match is stopped in the 2nd innings, match will continue from same point
where it stopped. In case one team doesn’t show up for the continuation,
other team will be considered as winner.

Batting
 Normal cricket rules apply except: No Leg-bye and No LBW out.
 Batsman change ends at the end of an over.
 A single remaining batsman cannot continue batting
 If a batsman retired, he can come to bat only after all the batsman get out.
 If more than one batsman retires in the team, they will return in the order
that they retired.

Bowling
 Bowl from one end only, bowling must be over-arm.
 Throw bowling is strictly not allowed.
 Six balls are to be bowled in an over.
 Bowlers may bowl a maximum of below overs in the innings.
o Leagues – 3 overs
o Playoffs and Final – 4 overs
 The ball which follows a no ball is a free hit (striker can not be out on that
ball unless run-out).

Scoring
 CricClubs scoring app must be used for scoring.
 Winning teams should enter scorecard on CricClubs by Wednesday after
the weekend games have been played. Also, it is the winning team’s
responsibility to update the scorecard with any corrections needed.
 Each team should provide a scorer on the game day. If a team fails to
provide a scorer, the scores scored from the opponent team will be
considered as the official scores of the game.
 Man of the match – Winning captain will take the call for MoM. Umpire
should not have any role in deciding man of the match. If a third eye is
required, then it will be umpire who helps the captain.

Super Over Rules


 At the start of Super Over each teams need to give 3 batsman and 1 bowler
names.
 The team batting second in the main match will bat first in the Super Over.
 Each side has three nominated batsmen, meaning that the loss of two
wickets ends the Super Over.
 In the event of the scores being level in the Super Over, the first satisfied
of the following criteria will determine the winner:
1. The team with the most number of boundaries combined from the main
match and the Super Over is the winner.
2. The team with the most number of boundaries from the main match
(that is, not including the Super Over) is the winner.
3. A count-back from the final ball of the Super Over shall be conducted.
The team with the higher scoring delivery is the winner. Runs scored
from illegal deliveries count towards the total for the following legal
delivery.

Umpiring
 In case of wide and No-ball is applicable, wide will be granted.
 All the no-balls will result in free-hit.
 In case umpire is not sure about the out, will go with batsman favour to
avoid the issues.
